DO NOT BUY A HOME FROM THIS BUILDER, NOR THE SUBCONTRACTOR PREMIER PLATINUM, UNLESS YOU HAVE MONEY TO THROW AWAY. If you have such monies, please come and purchase my home. This is experience has been a COMPLETE nightmare! They do not do anything they promise and as stated in the other reviews the communication is the absolute worst. I could write a book on these two builders but I would be here all day telling you EVERYTHING that went wrong. The issue that made me write this WARNING is they promised to fix a few things that was wrong when we moved in and now they saying if they come and fix the problems that existed before closing, they will not come out at the 11 month inspection to fix anything else.

I’m not one to write a review, but this entire process has been a complete nightmare from the beginning so I’m writing this to inform other people before they decide to build with “Quality” Homes of Currituck. Everything from the lack of communication, punctuality, and professionalism has been an ongoing problem since day one. We ended up backing out of our contract because we were going on month three without breaking ground or even speaking to the builder. It’s been over two weeks now since we decided to walk and we still have yet to see our $3,000 builders deposit check that was apparently mailed back to us over a week and a half ago. I feel as though for being such a “well known” company in Currituck they are not very personable or professional AT ALL. My dad is an extremely well-known tile setter in the Hampton Roads area and QHOC refused to hire him as a subcontractor because they claimed it would void the warranty of the home (not true). Also, if you want something as simple as an extended porch built or extra concrete poured...Don’t even bother asking for that. We were told no for pretty much every single thing we wanted to do. We also wanted black anderson windows, but we’re told that we needed to come up with a separate $5,000 deposit for that. If you’re willing to spend $400,000+ on a house like we are, please just do yourself a favor and don’t settle for a builder like this. Knowing what we know now... For that kind of money you can get a beautiful custom built home. Not some cookie cutter BS like this. We are trying to start a family this year and this experience has definitely put a hault on that. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

When we initially moved into our home in February, there were some items that needed to be addressed, as with most new homes I have learned. There is an online tool that can be used to submit repair requests while under warranty, so that was helpful and has at least made the process somewhat convenient. What hasn't made the process so smooth, is the fact that we have had to submit the same request multiple times. We have now submitted a request for a repair 4 times, over at least 2 months, and it still has not been addressed. It also has not been convenient to have to deal with a different company/contractor for each issue, as every little thing is handled by different groups/companies. For us though, what finally prompted us to feel the need to write a review to inform potential buyers, was when were informed that a repair that was done very poorly was just going to have to be dealt with "as it", as it would be "impossible" to correct the mistake. I guess we were mistaken to assume that purchasing a brand new home meant we would be able to expect things to be repaired in a manner that didn't look as if we just hired the first person off the street to do it. I would definitely recommend doing as much research as possible into as many builders/companies as possible, so that you can feel confident in your home purchase.
