This was a very large (approx dimensions 28x70) unfinished basement with a concrete floor, exposed pipes, wires and wooden beams above. The only walls were the cinder block exterior walls. My job was to take this space and create 4 new rooms. The 1st room was to be a game area for a pool table, 2nd room a bathroom with a shower stall (not pictured but is behind the half wall in photo). 3rd room was to be a home gym and the 4th was to be a Home Theater Room (approx dimensions 14x30) complete with stadium style seating (raised platform in the rear for stepped seating) Accent lighting, surround sound theater experience and more. All 4 corners of the room were draped with gold fabric curtains which provided a nice look while covering the surround sound speakers that were mounted behind them. A Custom cabinet was created for the big screen TV and to provide storage for components and DVDs. Problems that I first had to resolve were moving pipes and wires, the central air system required special attention. Bulkheads were constructed all the way around the room to hide the utility systems and give the room a symmetrical look. As the space was baron to begin with I had to run electrical outlets all the way around the room and hook up light switches for the lights and for the ceiling fan. Carpets were installed and the rooms took on a whole new life. I saw the project through from start to finish and even set the rooms up after construction (so you could say I am also the interior decorator) My clients were extremely happy. The new space became their favorite part of the entire home.

Sometimes there's no need to rip out what you have and even though I can build cabinets from scratch I suggested a makeover. I have a terrible habit of doing projects and not taking before and during photos or I would show you just how blah the old kitchen looked. What I did with this kitchen was take the dark oak cabinets and put a high quality primer on them before painting them with an equally high quality white paint. (Painted inside and out of cabinets) Then to dress them up real nice I mitered moldings and attached them to the bottoms of the upper cabinets where I mounted lights behind the moldings to cast extra light down on top of the counters and keep the light out of your eyes. This molding really dressed the upper cabinets up quite nicely. For the base cabinets and center island I used a fancy dental molding just under the counter tops on the sides and back. I also attached base moldings at the floor and made my own corbels on the corners of the cabinets. It was a cost effective means to spruce up a kitchen and it really looked great. The homeowner couldn't be more pleased.
