I would give them 0 stars if I could! Michael Britt is a a fraud! He frauded my elderly Mother. He takes people's money and doesn't finish the job, or he says he is finished when it isn't even close to be. He charged over $10,000 for a new deck and it's not even safe to walk on! The posts are rotted, facia is falling off and the railing is loose. For $10,000 you would think everything would be correct, but its not. He said he got a permit but never showed one. Would only show up to work a couple hours a day. When called to ask about questions, he wouldn't answer and would then stop by and just leave a card with nothing on it. Just to show he was there and while there, wouldn't do anything to fix the problem. He is rude, and after looking at other reviews of him, this isn't his first time. He has been to court for the same things. My Mom is elderly and he took advantage of her. He should lose his license, if he even has one.

WARNING: If you are thinking of hiring a contractor we, unfortunately, recently had a terrible experience with Britt & Sons Contracting and Roofing. In trying to get Mike Britt Sr. back out to fix and finish work he was paid in full for, he became very irate and irrational. I know, shame on us for paying in full that evening instead of waiting until the next day when we could have inspected his work in the light but there were really just a few small fixes that we thought for sure he wouldn't have a problem making right. We did after all pay him thousands of dollars to install new railing on our deck and replace several boards that had started to rot. We really thought he would stand behind his work. He was always pleasant while on the job. But, after nearly a month of us waiting, and him putting us off twice, we asked him to please not take advantage of us as we had paid him in full, in good faith. He "flipped his lid". I wish I could directly attach our texts here but don't see an option for it. Nevertheless, here is a small sample of our texts after he told me completing our job was not an emergency and there were plenty of other things wrong with our deck. I told him any other possibly needed repairs had nothing to do with him not finishing the work he was paid for Mike B: I tell it, as I see it! Again, if you cannot wait, hire someone down there to correct! Beginning to sound like a broken record! Better stop worrying about a post 1/2" off and WORRY ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSE WRONG WITH THAT DECK! P.S. you need to get a full time job or start your own business! YOU have way too much time on your hands! Me: The post is more than an inch off. You tilted it to make up for the fact that you cut the railing too short. Also, most of the screws are missing on the rails leading down the stairs. You had to have known the post was leaning when you left. If you look at it, it's obviously leaning, much less if you put a level on it which I'm sure you did. Mike B: You know so much about it. Get out there and fix it. Me:We didn't already pay for all the other problems or we would be worrying about them. We plan to fix it ourselves now. Just too bad we paid you and now have to spend more money. Mike B: You should have zipped it up! Your own fault! Dont cry over spilled milk! Me: Classy Mike B: Truth HURT? Mike again: You have a lot to learn! Mike again: Look in the mirror! I will keep my lips SHUT! GET MY DRIFT?? Needless to say, we no longer want him to come out and finish the work because we never want him on our property again. I really hate leaving this review but feel I should warn others.

After stealing thousands of dollars from me, Michael Britt was charged by St Louis County Prosecutor's Office for fraud. (He submitted a forged receipt for work that was not done by a subcontractor. This was back in 2017.) He is currently out on bond after being arrested. He pleaded guilty to the fraud charge in a recent court appearance and is now awaiting sentencing. His next court date is in July of this year (2018).

I agree- this guy is a big time crook. He starts your project, takes your money, and walks off the job. I lost $15,000 to him. The miniscule amount of work he did had to be fixed by subsequent builders. DON'T KNOW WHY HE IS STILL ALLOWED OUT THERE TO DO THIS - IT IS A RECOGNIZABLE PATTERN. PS - use variations of company name to find him on BBB site. He apparently changes it to avoid people finding reviews.
