on march 15th I traveled 10 hours to Aurora texas to buy a grizzly cast iron wood lathe model g0733. I actually paid $800.00 for this lathe and I found some issues with the lathe that I wanted Cardona welding to fix. The guy who sold me the lathe actually reimbursed me $60.00 back when I showed him that the lathe didn't have a dent it was actually a crack on the lathe bed and on the tool post. I emailed Cardona welding on march 8th two times to see if i could give me a price cause i posted pictures to show Mr. Cardona the crack that it had on the lathe bed but he never responded back to me . I ended driving 10 hours to Aurora texas to buy the lathe anyway cause it was a good deal. My plans were to buy the lathe on thursday and take it straight to Cardona's welding shop the next day, friday, to get it fixed. When I came over Friday morning I spoke to Jacob Cardona and he looked at the lathe and also the tool post that sits on the lathe bed and he visually saw the cracks on both pieces. He said to me that he could do everthing for $65.00. I thought that was a great deal cause I told Jacob that the guy who sold it to me reimbursed me $60.00 for the crack issues that i had found so this works out great for me. He told me that the repair won't be ready until later today when his dad Johnny Cardona gets back . So i told Jacob to get my phone number and right the price of $65.00 on his tablet and call me when the lathe bed is ready. So i end up calling back later in the day and he is telling me that his dad looked at the lathe and tool post and said it is not going to be $65.00 after all its going to be $125.00 instead . I tell Jacob that i was pretty satisfied with the first price he gave me of $65.00 not $125.00! I tell Jacob let me go by there cause i think i am going to pick it up and take it some where else to have fixed for the same price or maybe cheaper. When I show up to the shop I look at the lathe bed and the lathe bed had a opened up crack going upward. The lathe was hammered from the bottom of the lathe bed and made the crack open up even more that what it originally was. I asked Jacob what happened to my lathe, why did you open up the crack with a hammer ? He said that my dad had to look at it and had to hammer it so the crack can open up so he can determine a price . I told Jacob that i never gave him or his dad permission or the green light to hammer the lathe bed so he can open up the crack . I would of understood if i agreed to the price of $125.00 i would of given him the green light to do what he has to do to fix it . Either Jacob or Mr. Cardona (the owner), took it upon themselves to hammer the lathe bed to open up the crack so he can determine a price of $125.00 after his son Jacob already quoted me a price of $65.00 in the very beginning. I cannot believe that Mr. Cardona cannot determine a price by visually looking at the crack. What i am seeing here is that Jacob underbidded me in price and Mr. Cardona didn't approve of the price quote so he tried to get more money out of me. What he should of done was honor the price that his son gave me after he hammered and opened up the crack WITH OUT MY PERMISSION and could of told his son to not under bid on cast iron work like this. I ended up leaving the lathe bed an tool post there at the shop and demanded that it be fixed for $65.00 or have Mr. Cardona call me ! When Monday came around I called them and Jacob answered and he told me that he had not talked to his dad cause he has been out of town. I asked him you mean your telling me that your dad never called you or you have not even talked about this whole situation with the crack ? He said no, I haven't talked to him Jacob said . Now I am thinking That it was Jacob that probably ended up hammering the crack to my lathe and not Mr. Cardona but i do not know the whole truth to this story. I ended up picking up my lathe with this huge crack and they never fixed it. !! Man I am so Freaking Pissed ! I am so angry at these guys !! I have been dealing with Cardona welding for years since the 80's and they never have done this to me. Cardona has a sign hanging on the wall of his shop saying " we cannot mend a broken heart " But Today, Cardona Welding has broken my heart, and I don't think they will ever be able to fix it. These guys are unprofessional and have a lack of communication and for all you customers reading this review please find another welding shop to do business with because these guys don't know what they are doing and still Mr. Cardona still has not even called me to take care of the problem after a month later.. This is going out to you Mr. Cardona and i hope you read this!! If you cannot take care of your customers than you do not deserve to be in this business. You really upset and dissappointed me on the way you handled this whole situation buy you not even communicating with me Now i will have to buy a new lathe bed which will cost me $415.00 Plust shipping from Grizzly industrial .
