Larry Rarick created a contract to work at an hourly rate with a cap for total labor cost. When he reached the cap, that he set, he demanded more money. When we refused he quit. They left the job unfinished, and we haven't hear from him since. Larry and one other person "worked" an average of 3.5 hrs./day for 4 days to repair a small piece of sub floor under the dishwasher and install 200 s.f. of snap together vinyl tile on rectangular floor with 2 small coves. In the end, the tile install alone was well over $10/s.f., way above any price I'm seeing elsewhere of mostly $2 - $4/s.f. Their work was mediocre at best. The gaps to the wall are barely covered by the shoe molding. If the floor shifts at all the gaps will be exposed. Their short work days meant that they spent a lot of their time setting up and cleaning to leave. But, they still found time to take several breaks in that short period of time to smoke or just stand behind their van for no possible reason. Everything they needed was inside, and they never took anything with them. But they were very friendly... while they were taking our money.
