| Crown | Feb 2017 | Crowns are prone to leak because most are formed with a bag of commercial cement. The problem with this is that when the chimney heats up and expands the mortar doesn’t flex, it cracks. I use a product from National Chimney called Crown Coat and another Crown Seal. Both flex with the chimney when expanded from high temps or freezing temperatures.
