Eastern Wild Black Cherry Trees were located for the 4 upright corner posts. They were hand selected & dropped in the field. Each were delicately wire brushed to remove the outer layer of bark, exposing a beautiful hue of Cherry. Then they were hand brushed with several coats of Quality High gloss Urethane & when dried brought to the jobsite for placement. The unique roof design incorporates Western White Cedar Shake Shingles from Canada placed upon a rather himalayan/oriental platform of roof rafters. I carefully culled & planed 12ft 2x4 pt lumber, joined them on edges to configure a 12ft 2x32" board plank to them scribe a rising common & hip rafter. Since they are joined on the top to an octagon shelf there is no ridge rafter. I employed 1/4" plexiglas there for the onvieonce. The interior sides took shape as I saw kerfed 9/16" deep, 1" apart grooves along 4 sheets of 3/4" marine plywood, placed calculated weights on top & kept a water drip on them for 72 hours. I located some Bamboo, contacted the Homeowners & secured permission to cultivate same. After 30 days of separating this bamboo into 3 different areas for desired color texture, I began to divide these pieces into structural "Tamboure". Them painstakingly matched them along side each other individually & attached them to the pre conformed plywood. The concrete form was conformed in the same manner as the side rail plywoods & was finished out using imported Italian "Travaline" 12" X 12" X 1" compressed clay tiles, customer's last name initial personally etched in the center tile & set in a custom blend of colored grout. Roof was sealed with Thompson's Golden Honey water stain. Low voltage lighting was installed. A custom hung oscillating variable speed outdoor fan gives a breath of fresh air on calm days. Three 72" real bamboo roll-up type blinds adds to the privacy. Front entrance marked by beautiful custom drapes pulled back to the Wild Black Cherry Posts by decorative hooks. Exotic birds, animals & flowers mock the Cabana in a loving setting fit for the Queen of the nile.
