Freemans Hardwood Flooring

Freeman told us he could refinish our floors in 7 days and they would look new. He also said he could fix the thresholds and the gaps between the boards on the floor and it would not be noticeable. The floors look like varnished plywood, he never fixed the thresholds and you can see where he patched between the boards. He also said he would put a stain covering coat on the upstairs subfloors (Kilz or the equivalent) because after pulling up the LVP (another story) we found that we had a small roof leak, but he did not. He put something in the gaps, which we can see, and they said they would finish the threshold but did not. They were supposed to start on May 18th and nobody showed up and we called Freeman only to be told “I will let Freeman know and he will call”. Never received a call. May 19th nobody showed up so we called again. This time Freeman came and said “you guys are ready to go”. We were because we had hired someone to move our furniture into the rooms that weren’t going to be worked on – so the house was basically unlivable. We had rented a hotel room for 30 days because after Freeman was done, we had painters, etc. coming in to work as well. Freeman said he would be done in 7 days. WE HAD TO FIRE HIM WHEN AT 35 DAYS HE STILL WASN’T DONE AND WE SAW HOW HE RUINED OUR FLOORS. HIS CREW WORKED A TOTAL OF 9 DAYS OUT OF 35, AND MOST OF THOSE DAYS WERE NOT FULL DAYS. We called daily, most of the time never got a call back. We dove to our house daily to see what progress was being made and usually there was no one there. I put a review on a local Facebook page and got what felt like threatening comments from his employees. They were saying things like “you better make sure that you have personal injury on your homeowners’ insurance” and “I can’t wait to see what Freeman is going to do. This is going to be good”. We also got some information that several people had to file police reports against him. We also filed a police report because some of our tools were stolen while his employees were in our house. You can see ridges and grooves in the floors where they stopped while sanding (especially along the walls) and where they went all the way through the finish to the plywood. Freeman said he could sand the floors (engineered hardwood) but we have since found out they should never have been sanded. Save yourself time, trouble and money and find someone reputable to do your floors. I would never recommend this company. And when we finally had to fire him, instead of asking what the problem was and how he could make it right (like most reputable companies would do), he said ‘FUCK YOU’.
