Roofing Contractor - Unadilla, NY
For most people, their biggest investment is in their house, and what protects that house and the people in it from the elements more than anything is the roof. For most people, the biggest expense they'll have after purchasing their house is replacing a bad roof. At Alpine, we take our role in this seriously and strive to make the customer feel as comfortable as possible with the entire process. We've replaced over 340 roofs in our area, and with each one, try to make sure that we never have to come back again by doing it right the first time. All our roofs come with a lifetime workmanship warranty from Alpine, and, because of our certifcations with manufacturers, the best warranties available. Because all of our new roofs come with Alpine's lifetime workmanship warranty, if you ever have any problem with your roof, we'll come out and repair or replace it at no cost to you for any defects in workmanship. Materials are covered by the manufacturuer's warranty, though Alpine will help you deal with them. Our warranty is transferable if you sell your house. Shingle Roofs Alpine uses Certainteed brand shingles which are consistently at the top of Consumer Reports listings. Many different styles are available. Heavier shingles cost more and will last a little longer. All their shingles come with a 15 year warranty against black algae streaks. Certainteed offers a lifetime warranty on all their shingles. However, in this climate, with our frequent freeze-thaw cycles, even the best shingles usually need replacement after 25-30 years. Metal Roofs The metal roof panel which we typically use is Ideal's Americana panel (29 or 26 gauge) which comes with a 40 year warranty on the finish. Underneath the baked-on primer and siliconized polyester paint is a Galvalume (zinc and aluminum) coating on the steel, so even if the paint fails or gets scratched, the steel will not rust. Commercial Roofing and Flat Roofs Flat roofs can be a problem in our climate, with all the snow and ice in the winter. Many flat roofs have areas which "pond" and many rely on internal drains which can get clogged, so the material must be absolutely watertight to hold standing water. There are several types of flat roof materials out there. We used to offer "torch down" or heat-applied modified bitumen roofing, but stopped when our insurance carrier stopped covering it (apparently too many roofers burned down buildings). In this area, almost all commercial flat roofs are black EPDM (synthetic rubber). EPDM roofs, when properly installed, are very reliable and can be expected to last 25+ years. Repairs to them are very easy. Alpine is a certified contractor for Versico brand EPDM, and so can offer their commercial warranties. For residential buildings, Alpine also offers Certainteed's Flintlastic, a shingle-like surfaced material which comes in all their shingle colors.
