This midcentury home's main living space had been compartmentalized into five small, confined spaces: an entry, living space, casual dining space, kitchen, and formal dining space. The homeowner desired an open plan and an expansion of the existing kitchen space into the formal dining room. The entry was cut off from the living space by a large, floating closet. The storage space was still needed, but the location was uncomfortable. We relocated the closet to serve as a barrier between the casual dining space and the new kitchen, and pulled down all remaining walls, creating an open conversation area that allowed light to penetrate the once dark space.

The homeowner was desperately searching for a firm who could work with her to create a red, high-gloss kitchen when she found us! We were happy to work with her and had a lot of fun in the process. The cabinets are done in Arpa Plastic laminate. A custom glass table and custom hood were designed to introduce pieces that were subtle and timeless in a modern space.
