LOWE'S OF ABINGDON - Flooring

Saturday Oct 1 2016 Lowe's flooring installers came to our house to pull up the buckled bathroom vinyl they had originally put down in Feb 2015 without putting a wax seal at the toilet flange leaving it leaking. They did not complete the job on the Oct 1st 2016 redo and left saying they would pull the Luan underlayment up and replace it after it dried. They left us hanging without a working bathroom. They left the toilet in the bathtub, bathroom and hallway doors off the hinges and the toilet hole uncapped stinking up the house. That was 5:30PM. They were gone before we noticed the toilet still in the bathtub. That was our only bathtub/shower. A call to Lowe's management resulted in someone being sent out to get it out of the bathtub and out into the bathroom floor. The quality manager came out himself and said, "If they don't tie my hands," we will rework Monday's install schedule to get that Luan up to dry the subfloor." He said, it would be fixed, "unless they tie my hands." By Monday we were receiving phone calls saying that they would not do that --that only a contractor could pull up the Luan that lays above the subfloor. They asserted that the Luan underlayment was "the subfloor" and that they wouldn't pull it up even though pulling up the vinyl AND Luan to replace it was what was agreed upon. They left us hanging in a most unprofessional manner and told us to get a contractor to finish up. So we will hang until a more professional contractor can get to it on Oct 24th. Although it had been difficult to get Lowes to agree to fix it and scheduling the replacement installation had dragged on all summer, it was eventually agreed upon that Lowes flooring installers would pull up the vinyl and underlayment and replace it. This was obviously an all day job, so it was scheduled to begin between 8:00AM and 10:00AM Oct 1st. After some phone calls they didn't show up until 2:00PM. They pulled up the vinyl about 5:00PM after installing hallway carpet for us. They left about 5:30PM without reaching a reasonable stopping point. Monday their management wouldn't let them finish "tying their hands." We had also complained to the installer about leaving the toilet leaking Feb 2015 and were told "I am not a plumber." Complaints to Lowe's went nowhere. We didn't have a leak or anything wet before we let Lowe's in our house Feb 2015.

The folks at Lowe's were friendly and easy to work with, however; their contractor, Jimmy Rogers, was not. He over estimated the amount flooring we needed done by 2 times and his crew didn't finish the job we agreed upon.
