While we greatly appreciate your business, we certainly disagree with your harsh review of our service. It also seems pretty suspect that while we completed our contract with you about 2 months ago, you were only compelled to post this review after we declined to provide you additional free services earlier this week. We would like to clarify this matter and reply as follows:
We see you have spread disparaging reviews about our company across the internet. In part, you have falsely accused us of "up-charging for every broom we had to pick up" and "charged a couple thousand extra if we had to lift a broom not specified in the contract". This is called slander, and you have spread this lie repeatedly in your comments. In reality, the only "up charge" (i.e., 2nd contract) was for additional work you hired us to do not included in the original contract. This included: excavating an approximately 24"x36" area of basement floor to install a new sump pump pit and underground drains for bar sink; install approximately 20ft of vent line for pit; install approximately 10ft of 3/4" gas line to feed new oven range; install customer provided sprinkler heads. A tad more than just lifting a broom, don't you think? What you were charged extra for was a whole lot of extra work that YOU wanted done and DON'T get for free. That is your signature on both contracts consenting to the job you wanted done and agreeing to pay us to do it. That is kind of how things work and is no different than any other place you do similar business with.
Getting back to that broom thing, here are a few items we did for you free of charge, at no charge, you didn't pay for them nor were we obligated to provide these services (though clearly not appreciated by you):
Moved the gas line for your furnace
Moved your well tank
Duct work
Drove to Addison to fetch the sprinkler heads you, yourself had ordered (job was in Long Grove)
After we completed installation of your sprinkler heads, we later had to readjust them due to the framing you installed after the fact.
Approximately 2 weeks after we completed your job, you contacted us due to a leaking temperature relief valve on your water heater. Though we did no work involving your water heater, we came out and replaced your T&P valve free of charge.
You're welcome.
You speak of needing to amend several design components to account for sloppy work, but I will assume you are referring to your own sloppy work. As I recall, going back to the sprinkler heads, I advised you the correct order of installation should be framing first, sprinkler heads second. You did not want to do it in that order. You wanted us to go in reverse, by having us install the sprinkler heads first, then you would frame around them. Though we disagreed, we accommodated your request. The framing clearly did not work out the way you intended, forcing us to move plumbing already installed because of your framing. Let me be very clear on this... we were under no obligation, whatsoever, to move that plumbing for free. We installed it as per your instructions. It was your decision to go in reverse order against my advice. Rather than being grateful that my crew graciously moved the plumbing to compensate for your mediocre work, you instead make up tall tales of how we charge thousands if we have to pick up a broom.
Let's get to the bottom of what set you off on a mad dash to slander us across the internet... the plumbing fixtures. Namely, we would not come back to hook up the sinks and toilet unless you paid us another $500. While this is true, the setting of the fixtures was not only NOT included in the contract, it was specifically EXCLUDED from the contract that you reviewed, agreed to, signed and were fully aware of. That's right, to all who read this. This customer agreed to terms written right on the face of the contract that excluded the fixtures. He knew this from day one. Let's look at the timing of his review. We completed your job nearly 2 months ago and fulfilled all obligations in accordance with the contract (plus all the extras). Likewise, the customer paid in full at that time for our services. See any reviews from him going back 2 months? Nope. So what prompted this attack? A few days ago, customer texted us asking us to return to set the fixtures. We told him we would charge $500. He blew up. Apparently, he is more special than others and should receive services he has not paid for simply because he demands it. Nearly immediately after, he takes retribution by bashing us online.
Speaking of moral character, you might want to call your own into question as you were perfectly comfortable in bouncing a $5,000.00 check to us and taking more than one week to resolve it (you know what they say about people who live in glass houses). And since you are so concerned about "moral character", what else does this say about yours, a person who willingly enters into a contractual agreement, understands the terms of the agreement do not include the setting of your fixtures, these words are actually written into the agreement, that you acknowledged, agreed to and signed, then, approximately two months after the work was completed, you send us a text asking us to return to set the fixtures that were specifically excluded from the contract, that you acknowledged, agreed to and signed, and when told we would charge $500 to complete these services that were not part of our agreement, you respond by bashing us across the internet and pretending it has something to do with our moral character. Got it. In other words, our moral character has absolutely nothing to do with your review, it is just your way of inflicting damage upon us because you are angry we would not do more free stuff for you. By the way, that's a nice, enormous sense of entitlement you've got there.
In closing, we fulfilled all of our obligations to you as outlined in both contracts approximately two months ago. You also paid us in full (including the check you bounced to us) approximately two months ago. We provided additional services not outlined in the contract free of charge. We are under no obligation, including morally, to provide any other service to you free of charge (except as it pertains to warranty work). For the record, we never charge extra for lifting and picking up brooms. In any case, we thank you for your business and taking the time to post such a fair and well thought out review.
