If I could give less than 1 star I would: The Affordable Handyman is a crew of total amateurs! Jack Collins and his employee Gabriel Ward totally botched caulking the roof flashing around my kitchen bay window. Globs of WHITE caulk applied across the flashing. Not only the WRONG COLOR of caulking against a brown roof, but when I had a professional insurance adjuster and roofer come look at The Affordable Handyman's work 2 days later (August 23rd, 2016) I was asked "what were they thinking using white caulk and were they drunk?!" AVOID this "affordable" handyman. I found out the hard way it will cost twice as much to undo the damage Jack Collins and Gabriel Ward do to your home--and they won't come back at customer request. Only wish I could add the pictures of their work here. On top of this, they gouged me (a senior citizen) $200 plus materials ($38) to caulk roof flashing above ONE bay window. ONE BAY WINDOW. Gabriel Ward didn't do nearly the work he was suppose to. Then Gabriel reneged on his written promise to come back and refund 15% of what I paid, REFUSED to honor advertised 10% off discount for senior citizens, and REFUSED to come back and fix the appearance of his sloppy work. Afterwards, Jack Collins tried to distance himself from Gabriel's work saying his ONLY employee was working on his own to buy his kids school clothes and was not for his company. No integrity! Background: I telephoned The “Affordable” Handyman, Jack Collins on Friday, August 19th after noticing suspected leak in ceiling edge over kitchen table and chairs. Jack said he was booked up through October (at which time he is moving his business to Corpus Christi), but had his employee call about an hour later and scheduled him out to the house the next morning. Gabriel Ward showed up on time, but with just one very old 4 foot wooden ladder to look at ceiling water damage. Surprisingly he brought absolutely NO OTHER NECESSARY TOOLS OF TRADE. I supplied the obviously needed outdoor ladder, caulking gun, cleanup towels AND was left later to do all the cleanup of gummy caulking all over ladder and caulking gun. Gabriel told me it would cost $200 to do the necessary work (plus I buy the materials). With so much rain the previous day and possibly more later that day, I felt we had no choice. Couldn't believe afterwards how little he did for what he charged and NO SENIOR CITIZEN DISCOUNT. Caulking appearance on flashing afterwards couldn't look less professional. Again, uneven globs of caulk along entire edges of roof flashing; embarrassing appearance on our nice house! Of course I will have to hire a PROFESSIONAL roofer to undo their job this week. Called Jack Collins to come by house later on Saturday to take a look at the work done; he was obviously not impressed and pointed out some areas that Gabriel missed and said he'd mention them to him. Texted and emailed (Angie's List) Jack the next day, Sunday, to ask him why I was charged so much for so little, why I didn't get his advertised 10% senior citizen discount, and when would he or Gabriel Ward come back out to fix their mess. Jack told me his employee acted on his own and didn’t represent his company. He also told me to leave him alone about this job I paid his employee for so he could enjoy his Sunday! Beware Fort Worth of Gabriel Ward or him taking on the name of "The Affordable Handyman". Beware Corpus Christi--Jack Collins is moving your way and he doesn't stand behind his company's work!

I was in a bind on a small bathroom remodel project and had to have an experienced professional to come out and remove and old window and install a new one. I placed a request on Porch via my smart phone and, within minutes, was receiving phone calls. Jack, The Affordable Handyman, was nearby and offered to come right over. He arrived and began working right away. I was very impressed with his rapid response and good work. His price was very reasonable as well. I was happy with the results and would not hesitate to call on him again.
