I put "one star" because I cannot put "zero". Everything that has been done with Layne Remodeling had to be redone. I had some framing work in my garage: each time, I had to ask to fix some issues (some lumbers were replaced but they were not in contact with the rest of the supportive structure of the garage, rather than removing nails, Layne remodeling just use a hammer to bend them…). Mr. Layne took my oscillating saw (Dremel) without telling me and then a couple of days later I asked him if he has it; his answer was “yes, I will bring it back tomorrow”. I don’t know if he would have brought the saw if I didn’t ask him. He did the siding of the garage too: I just discover this weekend that he used some rotted wood for the layer under the new siding so I have to redo everything!!! I wanted to build a retaining wall behind the garage: they started placing some concrete blocks directly on the ground without preparation (no gravel...), without cement between the blocks. The wall was very wobbly and not straight. This wall was a “joke”: I had to remove it completely the following day as I was concerned about its stability. During our initial discussion, we agreed on reviewing the bills for the material: he left without responding to me, with a wall that I had to remove, we never reviewed the material bills and I have to redo the whole siding part. Mr. Layne was UNPROFESSIONAL: he could not accept to redo his work because it was not done properly (after one day of work, he left, took his equipment and my saw). He does not want to come back and fix his poor job with the siding: he is DISHONEST. He was very DISORGANIZED: he comes whenever (sometimes at 7am, sometimes at 12noon…). He did not respect his timeline: the work was supposed to be done in 10 days…15 days later, the wall was not started. Obviously, I don’t recommend anybody to work with Mr. Layne.
