Can my windows be repaired or do they have to be replaced?

I have a handful of windows that are in need of attention. How do I know if they can be repaired or need to be replaced. If they need to be replaced, what's the difference between an insert and a full replacement?

Any window can be replaced in sever ways. Depending on the problem, you can simply replace the glass, replace the "sash", or replace entire window. Sash replacements are my most common requests. When you replace the sash, you do not remove any trim, inside or outside. No damage to nearby painted areas, and you get manufacturers original warranty.
