The couple, who are nearing retirement, want to remain here as long as possible. We redesigned several parts of the house to accommodate an elevator to all floors, expanded the master bedroom to include a master sitting room, and created a separate dining room, which was an addition. We made the elevator shaft a focal point. The windows on each floor give you beautiful views of the lake and let light enter the elevator shaft. The window at the top has a light that automatically turns on at night, providing a beacon of light in the neighborhood.

The client asked us to design and construct a new porch from low-maintenance materials that would appear to be in character with the house. Other requirements included a small sun deck, an outdoor fireplace, a grilling and food preparation area, and table seating for eight. They also wanted a large seating area and space to entertain large groups of friends and family. The design fits in seamlessly with the existing house's architectural style, and we even changed the landscape for access into the porch.
