The Treehouse

Jul 2015

At the top of a rolling hill in The Reserve at Lake Travis just outside of Austin Texas, walls of stucco, shiplap siding and locally-sourced limestone combine with a standing seam metal roof to create a beautiful Rustic Hill Country Modern home, designed and built by Jenkins Custom Homes. Featured in Luxury Home Magazines Tour of Homes, this Jenkins Home was a crowd favorite and won Best Site Design for its layout and architecture. Ship in the Sky

Aug 2014

This project was designed and built in the floodplain for one of the few female ship captains in Texas. Well-known among the shipping community, she skillfully guides large vessels down tedious passages for a living. Her love for ships, the water, and entertaining her 11 closest friends drove this design, as well as the fact that the entire bottom floor of her home site was located in the floodplain. The very limited view corridor to the lake required careful site placement. The main living sits suspended 21' in the air, at the 100-year floodplain level with a three-floor stop elevator to accommodate the almost 50' tall structure. "Ship in the Sky" revolved around a nautical theme and was designed to capitalize on lake and hill country views. Ship portholes, for example, can be found subtly-placed throughout the modern design.

Willie Nelson Tierra Vista Parade of Homes

May 2014

Experience luxury in this stunning transitional dream home by Jenkins Custom Homes. This home was designed for a young family; they wanted a comfortable and engaging household that would suit their everyday lifestyle but still be sophisticated enough to entertain. As a result, a perfect blend of a classic hill country design and a softer, warmer contemporary style were achieved. The entry offers magnificent, unobstructed views of the expansive Texas Hill Country via a multi-slide door which opens to connect the indoor and outdoor living space. A private den, featuring vaulted ceilings with reclaimed wood beams, is tucked away at the top of the ledge-stone accented stairs. The hidden wine cellar is an unexpected and unique touch of the old world in this fresh atmosphere. The finishing touches throughout the house breathe elements of harmony into this home.
