We have used VPC for several large remodeling and repair projects over the last 15 months at a vacation cabin that we purchased. They added beautiful wood trim (ceiling, wainscoting, flooring), installed new sliding glass doors, and gutted the kitchen and put in a beautiful new one. There were lots of smaller jobs involved with these projects, involving painting, plumbing, electrical work, etc. They also helped us with some large and unexpected structural issues and managed those repairs with expertise. The project manager who we worked with, Dave S., is terrific...courteous, kind and very professional. All of the workmanship is top quality and we are very pleased! We look forward to working with VPC on future projects!

My fiancé and I recently completed a major design and renovation project to our 2,800 square foot ‘forever home’ using VPC Builders, and we are extremely satisfied with the results. We thought we had a pretty good plan on what we wanted to achieve when we started the project, but had no idea how much it would evolve and how much better it would turn out, all due to the expertise and efforts of the team at VPC Builders. This process began when we placed the home under contract and needed guidance on renovation ideas, the general costs involved, and a time frame to complete the project. We knew we were looking for a one-stop, design (on-staff draftsmen) and build solution. After researching local construction companies, we were encouraged by the accreditations, testimonials, and direct feedback from past clients that had used VPC Builders. We reviewed the VPC Builders website, which depicts photo-shoots of many of their completed projects and the actual customer reviews, and decided to take the plunge and call VPC. After our first one-hour meeting at the VPC office with Matt Vincent, the company president, and the rest of his staff, we knew we had found the right company for our project. Initially, the kitchen and great room were the only areas that we wanted to improve, but that would change. Matt suggested opening up the wall between the kitchen and dining area and leveling out the floors between the rooms to allow for better flow. That specific area was tight and there was originally a step down to the dining area. In addition, he recommended tearing out the water heater closet below the staircase, which was centered in the back of the great room and adjacent to the kitchen, to create a floating staircase to the main foyer and upper level. Those ideas would end up changing the whole feel of the house and really opened our eyes to how special the project could be. Project managers Tony Anthony and Brent Lyons were on-site during the house inspections to advise on potential issues and were quick to turnaround a general budget and time frame to give us the confidence to proceed to closing on the house. Once closed, the real work began. Through a series of weekly meetings, held on-site and at VPC’s office, we walked through each step of the renovation process. First, Tony and Jake Smith, came out to our house and took complete measurements. Then, after review of some sketches of a proposed layout we had previously made, and a thorough discussion of what our goals and objectives were, Jake put everything into a computer program that gave us 3D dimensional views of our plans. We were so excited with the ideas, plans, and great feedback that we decided to open up the renovation improvements to our entire house. This process got finer and finer in detail as we went along. Everything, including landscaping, crawl space/foundation improvements, electrical, plumbing, ceiling, flooring, doors, fireplace, bathrooms and cabinetry, was included in these plans. Each time Jake would update the computer program so that we could see the changes evolve, and the VPC team never got frustrated or distracted with our questions and many decision changes. With each change, Tony, who focused on the budget, would update a cost spreadsheet and provide us with an accurate cost update and time frame. Through this process, we got to our final layout. VPC then took all of that information and developed a comprehensive construction quotation, which included all anticipated costs. We were pleased with the quotation, and by this time, we had developed a great working relationship with Matt and his team. After we signed the construction contract, we picked out the material options for our renovation: plumbing fixtures, tile, counter tops, cabinetry, flooring, lighting, etc. for all of the house, stone for the fireplace, a 600lb reclaimed beam for the mantle, electrical fixtures, paint colors and trim options for all areas. This process was made easier by VPC because they provided an allowance quote for every item in their original quotation. Then we could decide if and where we wanted to stretch the budget for these items. VPC also provided us with a list of preferred vendors for each item, who were all very helpful during this process, and all had a great working relationship with VPC. Once the selections were all made, Tony updated his cost spreadsheets and we made a few changes to meet our budget requirements. We were now ready to move on to the actual construction phase. We worked with key members of the VPC Builders construction team, Brent Lyons and Cliff Baldwin. Both are experienced long-time contractors with great communication skills, who worked on our renovation from start to finish. As this phase began, we met with Brent, Cliff, and Matt at our house every week, to review progress and discuss the next week’s activities. Even more importantly, we were able to discuss ideas that my fiancé and I would think of to improve our project. This would require Matt and Tony’s input for feasibility and cost. And each week, we would consult with Brent, Cliff, and Matt on-site to review changes and final decisions to help us feel comfortable with any insecurities we might have. I want to stress how impressed we were with VPC’s efforts and how they really cared about our project, which was evident throughout the entire process. First, our wish of finding reclaimed beams and working them into our overall budget and layout design seemed farfetched. Matt and Tony took care of the details, such as finding the perfect source, considering the weight of the beams on the structure, the design and dynamics of how those beams would integrate with the rest of the layout, and all within what our budget could handle. Second, we hoped we could fit a breakfast nook into the kitchen area with built in bench seating. Matt’s suggestion of removing the wall between the kitchen and dining area created enough room to fulfill that dream. Third, we wanted smart features and entertainment areas implemented throughout the house. VPC planned for the smart features early on and recommended a local company for the installation of the entertainment areas and the two collaborated to make the entertainment area a total success. Fourth, we wanted a builder that stressed energy efficiency, long term home health, and minimal impact on the environment. VPC’s commitment to the latter was evident in materials, appliances, and design elements they recommended…a true ‘Green’ builder. With the project completed, we would say that not only are we over-the-top satisfied with our full house renovation, we also feel that we have become friends with the folks at VPC…even Thor, Matt’s trusty German Shepherd companion that is always by his side. Their attention to detail is unbelievable, communication relentless, and it shows in the final product. We have already talked with Matt and crew about a few other projects for the exterior of our home, and would highly recommend anyone to consider VPC Builders for their renovation work, custom home builds, or any related project.
