OVERALL REVIEW: WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. BAD. Our property had a roof leak and we hired Butler Brothers Odd Jobs to work with our insurance company and complete the project, as scoped. Project included roof repair, mold remediation, and flooring removal and replacement. Roof repair and mold remediation went fine enough, however the flooring removal and flooring replacement did not. Work was contracted out to a separate company, and that company did not have appropriate tools or skillset to complete jobs well and timely. Removal took significantly longer than discussed because the crew did not have enough tools and people were standing around. Install went slowly as well, because again, the skillset was not there and a single person was doing majority of the work. Installation of the quarter rounds was a nightmare. There are a significant number of places where the placement of the piece is wrong, and another significant number of places where the placement does not cover the gap to the subfloor. One major spot was filled with a putty to make it less noticeable but none of the other areas were remedied. The caulk work was VERY sloppy and was not painted by the crew as promised. In one spot, the crew caulked and painted over saw dust that was on the baseboard. Several areas were damaged, and the flooring crew did not correct this, as promised. There were also several floorboards that were damaged and installed anyway. After the flooring crew deemed the work “completed”, an onsite visit with Alan Butler was done and it was clear when he was on site that none of the items above were acceptable or expected. A painting crew came out (over a week later) and remedied the damaged areas, but nothing was ever done about the gaps or poor installation of the quarter rounds. No final site visit was ever completed, and a bill was sent without any conversation about the outstanding work. We were almost immediately pestered about an overdue bill, when again, the work was never and STILL IS NOT completed. LOTS OF EXCUSES. One item that I believe should be called out is that the explanation for the floor gaps was not that the crew could not measure or install quarter rounds appropriately, but that we chose the wrong flooring for our door jambs. This is clearly not an accurate statement, as there are places that the crew actually did do good work. I also would like to note that the relationship with the Butler Bros company and our insurance company did not go well. Alan essentially told them he would not speak to them any longer and caused us issues in the end. Again, none of this was remedied by the Butler Bros company. They simply stopped returning phone calls and emails to us and our insurance. Overall, I DO NOT RECOMMEND and do not have anything positive to say about this company any longer. If you have an insurance claim job, I HIGHLY recommend using a different company.

Alan Butler performed above expectation. Project list at my home included fence repair, rain gutter/roof clearing, tree trimming from roof line and woodwork. I was more than happy with his pricing and performance. He showed up when he said he would, he did exactly what he said he would do - and he did it right. Importantly (for me) he is insured, registered and BBB accredited. Many people forget that your homeowners insurance doesn't cover you if your handyman gets hurt on your property. Hiring a contractor with his own insurance reduces those concerns for me.

On the front of my home there are three 6x6 post for a small porch. All needed to be replaced due to carpenter ants eating out the bottom of the post. I had bought some hardware by OWT that is sold at McCoy's to install of the replacement post. Alan and his crew did an excellent job on replacing the post and installing the hardware that required drilling into the concrete slab. They got the job done in the amount of time he had setup for the job and they all look great. It was a very professional install. I will be calling Alan as my goto guy for any work I need done to or around my home.
