I was contracted to build a home with R.C. Peoples since the beginning of January. I was told I was buying at a great time and that prices would soon go up. All was going well until mid March when myself along with other buyers recieved a letter stating that the company elected to cancel future construction due to a miscalculation of lumber costs on their end. They refunded my deposit and gave no further explanation nor would they honor our agreed upon price at a later time (They raised new construction prices significantly one week before I received the letter). Simply put they promised my family a home built for $350,000 and then refused to honor that agreement. At their new listed prices I would be paying well over $420,000. I have called and left messages for Harrison "Harry" Peoples over 6 times in the past week. He has not returned any of my calls thus far. I was told this was an honest family business and I trusted them. I hope they can honor their previous agreement with myself and the other buyers so that one day I may recant this statement and once again trust the integrity of R.C Peoples.

Just wanted to add 82 feet makes a lot of difference in your home. You pay by square footage our home price was the same as if we had the full 2050 square feet.

We purchased property in Grandview Farms in the 1980’s. When we built we asked People’s to build. We could have chosen any builder, but People’s we selected on their repretation. We had a beautiful home selected. It was to be 2050 square feet. We ended up with 1968. We discovered that 10 years later when we had work done. The foundation looked small, we asked and was told it wasn’t less than quoted. We asked for an ashdown for the fireplace it was put in the back and they had plans showing the fireplace was built inside the garage so they drilled down after putting it in. We found out later the holes for pvc was jagged under every sink instead of clean holes with the drill attachment.Kitchen Cabinents were not properly hung & molding was properly finished. The Caravel Moray was being built in Caravel Hunt at the time & they had to travel To Middletown to build ours. They were upset that the salesman Dave who worked for & with their dad R..C. People’s who sold us the property, who had passed by the time we built 10 years later. We were novices. Just make sure before you embark that you know what to do when building
