This kitchen went from being closed off and outdated to wide open, updated and absolutely gorgeous! The wall between the family room and kitchen was removed as well as a large portion of the wall separating the living room and kitchen. The new kitchen opens up into both the family room and the living room creating a fabulous wide open space for entertaining as well as everyday living. Calvetta Brothers removed tile floors in the kitchen and carpet in the family room and replaced those areas with hardwood floors. All of the hardwood on the first floor was then sanded and refinished to further highlight the fluidity and beauty of this newly renovated space. The white shaker style cabinetry, stainless steel appliances and beautiful granite countertops make this kitchen a showstopper. The new kitchen is designed to perfectly serve the needs of the family. Highlights include cabinets to file bills, recipes, etc. at one end of the kitchen; a large island for dining and preparing meals; and plenty of cabinet space for storage. The end result is a kitchen that transforms the first floor of the home and adds serious value, functionality and appeal.

This Shaker Heights home had a small kitchen with an attached dinette area. We combined the two rooms to make one large beautiful kitchen. Two windows were replaced in the kitchen - one of which had originally been the dinette window. The dinette window replacement required us to raise the opening of the window to standard kitchen height and add brick to the exterior of the home to match the home's existing brick. The all wood white painted cabinets are offset beautifully by gorgeous granite countertops and a Carrara marble backsplash. Tall pantries, roll-outs and deep drawers provide excellent storage to keep this kitchen as functional as it is beautiful. The hardwood floor was seamlessly integrated into the hardwood we had already installed in other areas of the first floor. The red paint is a great pop of color to add personality to this space.

While completing the kitchen remodel for this customer in Shaker Heights we also completed several other projects including a first floor half bath remodel. We removed a window in the bathroom (this actually allowed us to create a new external entrance to the home which is showcased under a separate project on porch.com). The removed the old wallpaper and replaced with new wallpaper with a great modern yet classic pattern. We installed the same style of cabinets and granite countertops as we used in the kitchen. The vanity is floating which makes the small room feel larger because you can see the wood floor extend beneath the cabinet to the wall. A small space but a big impact.

During this project we removed a very large soffit that extended from the high angled ceiling down into the kitchen. This was a true transformation from a dark, closed off kitchen, to a wide-open gorgeous area for cooking, entertaining and gathering. The removal of the soffit allowed us to install a decorative hood. The granite countertops accent the all wood cabinets beautifully, as does the tile backsplash behind the sink.
