The dingy stairwell was the first of several items, including all the exterior trim and that front door... The stairwell was assaulted with max repairs and intense effort top get Sheri the results promised. 100 + little and bid repairs. After cutting our the old failed drywall tape, attaching new tape and patching carefully, the final texture matching was done. Cheryl's stairwell- goodbye unsightly cracks and nailpops! | Oct 2014 | Cheryl's stairwell- too many smudges, scratches, dents and nicks. Oh there was the old huge botched repair effort at the ceiling wall joint. Nice try, but... After all the set up of plastic, double-thick drop cloths, then the repairs began. Numerous 1" nails to secure that disgusting popped metal cornerbead, followed by four coats of fast-drying spackle, primer... Anyway, by the end of the day, after about 100 separate repairs, including 20 "nail pops", Cheryl had an awesome new stylin' stairwell. After 1 1/2 hours of tinting with various blends of beiges, and off -whites, the match was done. Repair was thorough as I could do- cut out the old failed drywall tape, scrape to bare surface, new screws, new tape, four coats of joint setting compound dried urgently with hairdryers, then the sand swirl match, goes 1 & 2, then the pre-paint, then the final over coat. A busy day... after a set up with plastic on all the walls at 7:00 AM, then double thick drop cloths. by dinner time it was done. Husband Rich was ecstatic- somebody else did it , not him.... Worst door ever, made wonderful; whole exterior trim looking sharp | Oct 2009 | The absolute worst door ever, I gave it that sad award! The trim was peeling so basd UI had to heat gun it to strip to completely bare wood, while shielding the adjacent vinyl siding from melting. Afte rit was stripped, scrapped, sanded, thencaulked, then two coats of primer, more caulk, then dried by muiltiple fans, two coats of top grade exterior satin paint were applied. Now they don't cringle when they go out the basement door to their romantic hot tub! i also did shutters, the front door and din "fans" aabove the windows. All of those were coverd in disgusting mildew, and had 3/8" gaps where they joined the brick. The garage door was done over, looks awesome still, five years later. | $1k | Swansea, IL |
