Remodeling Contractor - Belmont, CA
At 7:30 am on a cold May morning in 1974 Matt Johnson walked across a mucky field to a job shack, grabbed a 100' industrial cord, and laid it out on the ground to provide power to a construction project. This was his first day in the construction industry that has become his career. He worked as a laborer until 1977 when he was eligible to join the carpenter's union in San Francisco, California as a first year Carpenter Apprentice in a California State approved apprenticeship program. For the following 4 years he went to night school and worked during the day. Then, in June of 1981 he, and his new wife of one year, attended the graduation dinner where he was presented with his certificate of Journeyman Carpenter. During those 4 years he worked for Feiler Bros. Construction company, a premier commercial remodeling company, on projects like the Simpson Bible College remodeling project. And Swinerton & Wahlberg Co. on the construction of Pier 39 at San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf. Among many others. As his career progressed he was fortunate to work with talented craftsmen who shared their decades of experience and various talents. From these professionals Matt learned the proper techniques of construction. Two weeks after his graduation he was asked to be a project superintendent for Stendel Inc. And, for the next several years he worked for several companies as foreman and project superintendent. Overseeing all aspects of commercial and residential remodeling in San Francisco and on the San Francisco peninsula. Then in 1983 Matt tested for, and obtained, his General Contractor license from the State of California. Over the years the company, Matthew W. Johnson, General Contractor, grew and prospered. More and more projects came the way of the company and now today Matthew W. Johnson, General Contractor is a Diamond Certified company with many satisfied customers.
