When the technician arrived he noticed the filter was extremely clogged and there was not a disconnect for the outdoor unit. We were able to wash the filter, install a disconnect and test the system.   | University City gas furnace | Jan 2016 | We were called to a customers rental property after the gas company turned the gas off to the heater claiming the system was plugged. Our service technician performed a diagnostic and safety check on the system and found that the heat exchanger was cracked. A cracked heat exchanger can allow exhaust gas from the furnace to contaminate the air with carbon monoxide which can lead to a deadly outcome.
