| Tamarack Dr Kitchen remodel | Apr 2014 | Homeowner was good at destruction but not so much at construction. He called us to take over. This was an older home. Indicative of the fact that the washer and dryer were located in the kitchen in the open. The layout of the house would not easily accommodate relocating the washer/dryer, so we chose to enclose the appliances by creating a utility room with bi-fold doors. The client wanted to remove an exterior door and a window from a wall, and add a set of french doors on the other side of the kitchen. During the removal of the door and window and the creation of the rough opening for the french doors, we discovered the brick on the outside of the wall was not tied to the frame of the house properly. This resulted in having to tear down and rebuild the wall properly. After rebuilding the wall, the electric and plumbing was installed. Drywall was installed and finished. Tile was installed, followed by the cabinetry, and finally trim. White cabinetry, paint color, tile, grout color, light fixtures were all chosen by client. Before tile installation could begin, we had to level the countertop which was 2 inches lower in the middle than the ends. Leaving it uneven would cause the tile to look awkward.
