Patio and water feature in Bethune, SC

Dec 2014

Project started with designing a kidney shaped patio with a pool and waterfall on the inside curve. A seating wall was built of brick around the large part of the patio and a fire pit placed off center of the circle. Brick pavers were cut so that a circle of bricks could be laid around the fire pit expanding out for 8 feet. Stone was then added to finish out the patio floor. Large mounds of dirt and boulders were added on each side to form rock gardens. and trees planted and shrubs.

Redesign of the back yard was required with the removal of existing shrubs, building hard surface walkway, dry creek bed and rock garden. Split stone was laid in a bed of dry cement and sand mix to form a hard surface walk. Ten tons of river gravel was placed in a meandering trench to represent a stream bed and several large stones placed to form simulated pools. Ten tons of topsoil was used building a mound for boulders to be placed forming the rock garden. An assortment of fruiting shrubs were planted to create an edible landscape. The dry creek bed serves to divert rain water away from the house and back yard that had been a problem.

Renovation of front yard and building water feature in little garden for meditation. Customer was from mountains in Washington state and wanted to be reminded of home. We built two mounds with rock outcrops and planted junipers, grasses, and a couple of small trees to complete the landscape. A foundation planting in front of the house complimented the ranch style structure. Centipeed grass sod was laid and an irrigation system installed to complete the system.
