Flying Point | Sep 2013 | A home completely transformed from contemporary to classic in a gambrel style. The family who purchased this once modern style summer home was looking for a classic Hampton's style, and a place worthy of accommodating visiting family and friends. Initially the house was completely demolished, leaving only the existing garage to work with. The remaining structure featured entirely rounded corners which were not intended for the new design. The scheme of the exterior was to obtain the quintessential Hampton's facade keeping it maintenance-free. The homeowners wanted a less traditional look for the interior, but incorporating sleek accents for a clean and up to date look. A chandelier given by the client?s father was the focal point of this magnificent renovation. Holding its sentimental value, it was updated to fit the theme of the house. The family now has beautiful summer home truly unique and tailored specifically to them. A place where they can get away and share with their loved ones. | $2.5m | Southampton, NY
House Remodel | Apr 2013 | Chrysalis Award Winning Project Whole house remodel over $1 million The owner of this East End property was quite specific in his desire: he wanted to feel as if he were standing in a wooded area while in his home like a tree house. Transforming the nearly 40-year old Cape Cod into the Modern country home of his dreams required much planning and creativity. Because of the grade of the property-and the owner's needs- the entire home needed to be raised and re-supported. New retaining walls were built, the existing concrete foundation was reinforced and the entire property was re-graded. To achieve the "rustic but modern, outdoorsy" look the client was seeking, we could not simply use one material. Thus, combinations of materials were employed. The roof was re-built with grey aluminum metal. The remainder of the home was finished with grey-stained marine-grade plywood, cement stucco and cedar planks all on rain screens. The overall finish enhances the rustic surroundings and complexity of the natural composition of the wooded area so highly valued by our client. Exterior obstacles overcome, we then focused on the interior. The original Cape Cod design was a closed space, one which we modified into an open floor plan; when one is outdoors, they should never feel closed in. We installed custom made floor-to-ceiling German windows, trimmed with German Alder wood. The wooded area outside had now been successfully blended with the interior. In order to accommodate these stunning windows, additional steel work was installed to help maintain internally. This maintained the overall flow of design and enhance the county look the owner was seeking. Four-inch rift wood flooring, with the radiant heat below, was installed. Marble and stone was used on countertops, with the home trimmed in a combination of cedar stone, granite, and terrazzo. Lastly, the master bedroom was moved from the second to the first floor. | $1.2m | Bohemia, NY
Canvasback Lane | Jan 2012 | The owner of this East End property was quite specific in ihis desire: he wanted to feel as if he were standing in a wooded area while in his home like a tree house. Trasforming this nearly 40-year old Cape Cod into the Modern country home of his dreams required much planning and creativity. The entire home needed to be raised, re-supported and re-graded. The client was going for the rustic but modern, outdoorsy look for the exterior. Inside was modified to an open floor plan, blending the outside wooded area with the interior. The project was a success, and placed our client squarely in the midst of where he dreamed of being all along: inside his own wooded area. | $1.2m | East Quogue, NY

West Hampton Beach | Jan 2011 | With a location just walking distance to the beach, these homeowners thought some minor renovations would make this house a perfect vacation home for the family. Not even one year of owning the property, new town/village codes were put into effect, changing these minor renovations to a whole house remodel. The house was determined to be in a flood zone and needed to be lifted to add two additional feet onto the foundation. In addition, the garage and den needed to be completely demolished because those areas of the house were set on slabs. An even worse problem however was the patio and terrace surrounding the pool. The patio was back-pitched toward the house causing the houses crawlspace to become flooded with heavy rain. As a result, the patio was completely removed, as well as the sheet-rock and insulation in three bedrooms which were not part of the original renovation plans, due to mold damage caused by excessive moisture. Due to the extreme changes that needed to be made in order to get the house up to code, and the damage done by incoming moisture, a more full-scale renovation than originally intended was needed. A total remodel included the addition of one bedroom, lifting the entire house 5 feet to add 2 feet to the foundation, and a left-side addition which became the kitchen and master bedroom. At the homeowner's request, barn beams were salvaged from an actual barn in Pennsylvania were installed with floor jacks and had to be bolted through the roof rafters to tie the roof together. | $488k | Westhampton Beach, NY |
