Artificial Turf

Aug 2015

This homeowner is someone who didn't want to spend a lot of time doing maintenance. She has two medium-sized dogs, and a small yard. The perfect solution? Artificial Turf! They have some a long way with making artificial turf look realistic and it's you can just hose it off after the dogs have gone on it. We also installed some low-water, low-maintenance plants, along with a new flagstone pathway.

Gravel driveway and Xeric landscape

Jul 2015

This yard once had a giant maple in front, which eventually died, along with all the grass underneath. Instead of replacing it with lawn, the homeowner wanted to create a parking area, and a xeric planting bed. We also installed a new flagstone pathway. Plants include Tiger Eyes Sumac, Mojave Sage, Lavender, Blue Oat Grass, and Penstemon.

Front Yard Renovation

Jul 2015

The previous homeowners wanted to have an English Garden, but lack of maintenance caused it to grow out of control. The homeowners wanted to have a low-water landscape, but also wanted more lawn for their children. The sidewalk was also beginning to crumble. We installed a variety of fescue sod that is made of native grasses which can survive on just 14" of water a year. We also installed low-water plants such as echinacea, Apache plume, sedum, coreopsis, and lavender. To replace the sidewalk, we installed flagstone, and to keep a sharp easy-to-maintain edge, we installed steel edging.

Secret Garden

Jun 2015

We wanted to create a little hidden seating area at this property and we did that with a flagstone pathway and small patio. We also installed some shade-loving drought-tolerant plants.

New Low-Water Sod

Jun 2015

There is a reason why it is called Kentucky Bluegrass, and not Idaho Bluegrass; it's because it doesn't do well in our climate. We replaced the Kentucky Bluegrass lawn here with a fescue grass that is drought-tolerant and better suited to the heat. It also is self-healing to fill in dead spots after dogs do their business. We also redid the side-yard to clean it up, and put in some low-water plants

Dry Creek Bed

May 2015

Something that can add interest to a yard is a dry creek bed. We removed the existing lawn, installed the dry-creek bed, low-water plants, a flagstone path, and a flagstone seating area.

Low-Water Landscape

Aug 2007

With this project we removed the existing sod and plants and installed netafim, a type of drip irrigation, under the lawn. This reduced the homeowner's water bills significantly. We also installed a water feature, steel edging, a new water main, and boulders to make it a lush yet low-water landscape.
