Randy's Repair

Randy charged me almost double from his original estimate. He also managed to turn a 3-4 week project into a 4 month project. His communication is absolutely horrible and the quality of his work is cheap.

I'm only giving one star because that's the lowest rating I'm allowed. He was going to build a house for us to live in, and promised us many different things along with it. Ended up poisoning my dog from my late father, stole our clothing and food, and left us stranded in a state thousands of miles from our home. Beware this king of manipulation. He will take everything that isn't bolted to the floor, and then he will use your tools to unbolt the things on the floor. DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU HIRE SOMEONE.

Gave me an estimate for bathroom remodel including: tile wherever I want it, all new amenities, paint, wood ceiling sanded and finished, shower fixed, etc. Total was supposed to be around $5900 but "would save $ if we used our existing amentities". I was keeping my toilet, tub, and vanity because they were newer. I didn't want tile surrounding my bathroom halfway up the wall like he wanted, so you'd think that would save on my costs as well. Instead the 3 to 4 day job took 2 weeks. He ripped up my new flooring without asking, plumbed things backwards then I had to pay for his time to fix it (some things he never came back to fix so I had a licensed plumber fix them). A bathroom outlet they didn't hook up the power to correctly so my husband had to take it apart and fix it. My shower floor pools to the side of the drain, they didn't slope it correctly. They used 2 different colors of trim tiles on my shower. Didn't caulk, grout is cracking everywhere, didn't seal up the wall, I have a terrible cold draft coming in. When they took my belongings out of my bathroom they put it all in a big black garbage bag, which they ended up throwing away.... over $100 of my stuff. Does extra work without first confirming, then charges for it. He had my bathroom completely stripped, torn apart (which we didn't ask him to completely gut it) when he charged the original estimate amount. Basically I had to pay that so he'd finish putting my bathroom back together... and continue paying more for him to do that. Said the rate was $55/hr then was charging me 16 to 24hrs a day, his excuse was the $55per hr was per 2 people, sometimes he had a few guys there. He was charging me for his girlfriend to sit around my house on her phone all day and for him to constantly make trips to home depot. I was down near cda, he said he needed some tile from down there. I told him I'd pick it up since I was already there and he said no he needed it right away, he didn't install it till the next day...I was charged for his time. He kept billing me more and more until I said I wouldn't pay more than $7000 (bathroom was still far from completed and I wasn't getting everything he agreed to do). He agreed and said he would finish the job and make it right even if he had to "take the loss himself".... he never finished everything and still tried charging me more than $7000, we settled on $7250. I had all my original amenities, he never did the ceiling, threw away my stuff, I painted the bathroom myself, still no caulk, lots of unfinished areas. Materials would show up at my house that he had purchased for my project then later disappear. He told my husband he took some of our materials to his shop and he'd bring them back when he came back for the next project that we at this point decided we no longer wanted to use him for. He refuses to bring back our materials or provide store receipts for our materials. He won't answer my messages anymore. His last invoice was for 120+ hrs he dropped it down to about 104 hrs.... but he was only there for 2 weeks, it should've been closer to 80 hrs. Also he operates under a false name. When my husband was paying our invoice he noticed it says James instead of Randy, he asked him about it but "Randy" hushed him and told him not to tell anyone. I'm not sure if it was a joke or what, but he is a fraud and a thief as far as I'm concerned.
