This Wellesley home renovation included a complete reworking of the first-floor and basement layouts, custom millwork, upgraded heating and cooling systems, as well as a complete exterior facelift with new siding, roof and entry. As with most older homes, the original layout does not meet the needs of a modern-day family; our clients sought a more open, bright space that allowed their family to gather comfortably together but still have unique, cozy spaces to curl up with a book in front of a fire.

Near the top of Boston’s Millennium Tower, this 4500 SF penthouse boasts some panoramic views of Boston that are jaw-dropping. Amenities range from a heated concrete bath tub in the Master Bath, to an all glass wine room situated adjacent to a custom kitchen with a Hamptons inspired design. This unit also features wireless media integration and home automation by Bang & Olufsen and a range of custom built-ins fabricated by South Shore Millwork. Interior designer Carolyn Thayer left her mark by implementing earth and ocean toned textures, wallpaper and furniture throughout, which soften the contemporary lines and are reminiscent of the surrounding views of Boston harbor. The finished space acts to provide our clients a cool and relaxing experience that is truly state-of-the-art.

For our second luxury home remodeling project with this client, we became highly involved at the pre-construction level, working with Suffolk Construction and the Millennium Partners to ensure that our clients expectations for the highest level of woodworking, finishes and paint quality were met. Another collaboration with Elms Interior Design, this glamorous penthouse features a cantilevered “floating” stone fireplace and elaborate Venetian plaster as focal points. Home automation, media integration and plaster-in recessed lights were must haves for our client. High gloss black doors, rich navy blue furniture and contrasting brass accents make this space a dramatic contemporary gem.

The Rug Company approached Sleeping Dog Properties to partner in the design and build of their flagship Boston location. With multiple sites across the world – from Moscow to London and NYC, The Rug Company owners needed the project to be executed in a timely manner and within budget with quality top of mind. Some of the challenges we faced were finding and selecting vendors that were familiar with the brand elements, as details commonplace in the UK didn’t necessarily translate well on paper to the vendor pool in the U.S. Bridging these details required tireless commitments to drawings, submittals, and sampling. We were pleased that the store’s grand opening in early September was wildly successful.

Penthouse life in Boston comes with a list of must-haves. This fantastic space has it all and then some. Our effort was to take those raw elements and bring them to the forefront of style. The home includes an updated kitchen, new lighting plan, an updated master bathroom suite, and custom built-ins just to name a few. A desirable feature in the living area is the wood burning fireplace with the monochromatic stone faced finish. The fireplace centers the room and sets the tone for the color pallet of the adjacent built-ins. Transitional in design, this space highlights the best of what Boston has to offer.
