I wasn't going to write a review but I have to. I hired this company to replace one beam and the top boards on my deck. I had all the wood for the top, I had screws, I had brackets....etc. I asked them to and they agreed to modify the deck by a couple feet. I hired them to do this because I hadn't had the time to get it done and then ended up falling through it and breaking my arm. I had to have someone do it but I was gone a lot to Dr. appointments, physical therapy, etc. I got home one day and they had NOT modified the deck like I asked and like they had agreed to do. They were already starting to install the top boards. I called the owner and he showed up and convinced me to let them do it this way and add a small section to it instead. At that point I just needed it done and was busy dealing with trying to heal after surgery so I reluctantly agreed. But I let hi talk me into it. I came home after they finished the top decking and was astounded to find that they had totally mis-used the "Cammo" screws that I had given them, with the tools to install them properly and they just screwed right through the tops of the boards, NOT how they are designed to work or be used. Then I started walking around and looking at what they had done. They started at the outside of the deck and worked toward the house and ended up with a BIG gap at the house. They cut notches in the board around the trim up against the house and cut them too deep so they cut little squares and dropped them in. Horrible, sloppy craftsmanship. Next I started checking out the addition they put on. I stepped on one board and the other end popped up. Totally unsafe structure underneath. I told the owner they needed to take that back apart and fix it. They did but I didn't see how they "fixed" it. Fast forward to the last couple weeks. I decided I would take their work apart and do it correctly and how I had asked and they agreed to do in the first place. What I found was appalling and I decided I had to write this review. They bought a new support beam for the deck which we talked about and the owner knew they needed to provide. But they didn't buy one long enough so they just threw a 4"x4" under part of the deck instead of a 4"x8" beam like it should have been. Yeah that's NOT safe. Then I got to the addition. They didn't install a ledger board at all. They threw some 2"x6"s in there and scabbed it together in a way that makes NO sense whatsoever. No wonder it didn't feel safe. When I stepped on it in the wrong spot it was pulling up the other end off the pier block support. Yeah great job there. I would not suggest having these guys to anything that is in any way construction related. I checked reviews and the pics all looked nice and people liked them. Yeah really friendly guys, but NOT construction workers in the least bit. I have no idea why they did half of what they did. Not to mention I now have over $1,200 worth of cedar that is punched full of holes where they didn't put the screws in correctly and it looks like crap. I won't get into how much I paid them to screw up my deck but trust me it was NOT cheap and NOT the lowest bid I got. I feel like they kicked me while I was already down.
