Brooks 1960's Revamping

Oct 2015

This 1970's home needed a little updating. When originally built it was builder grade with a very limited electrical system. Back at the time built it was very common to share circuits with many receptacles through out the home. We added dedicated circuits to serve the kitchen counter-top receptacles, built in above the range microwave. A plug was added to accommodate the clothes washer. The house was originally wired with switch controlled receptacles to serve as the lighting for the various rooms. We added over head ceiling lights(ceiling fans) on switches in the front living room and two front bedrooms. Ceiling Fan rated electrical ceiling boxes were added to accommodate the fans. The kitchen counter-top receptacles lacked gfci protection, the water heater wiring had been installed without using a romex connector, an outdoor receptacle was not gfci protected and had the wrong type of cover. We corrected all of these problems and more. This job took a total of 24 man hours.

1940's Cottage Updating

Aug 2015

Updated lighting in basement. Built in recess 30 inch fluorescent lighting was hogging energy. We retrofitted the fixtures from the T12 large lamp tyoe to a T8 more efficient version. We were able to update these fixtures without damaging the ceiling by installing new ballast and lamps in the existing housing.
