Patio Construction and Chimney Repair in Spring Branch | Apr 2013 | REAR PATIO: Remove the garage door threshold and cut off approximately 6' of door jamb to expose the slab. Remove approximately 80 sq. ft. of existing sidewalk between the garage door and the corner of the house. This will involve using a concrete saw to cut as close to the house as possible. Chip off by hand the last 3" to create a brick lug. Excavate as needed for new base and patio. Form the removed patio section plus approximately 416 additional sq. ft. of new concrete patio. Install base material in the new patio area. Install #4 rebar steel forming a 12x12 grid tying in to the existing steel when possible. Pour concrete with 2500 PSI rating with 2 cap on the removed walkway and 4 pad on the new patio. Plaster the sides of the new patio and the area between the rock veneer. Haul off construction debris. CHMINEY REPAIR: Construct scaffolding, as needed to safely access and work around the rear chimney. Remove the stucco around the chimney, the flashing, and the roofing around the base. Secure any loose sheathing. Apply new 6x6 metal flashing around the base of the chimney. Install new water resistant membrane (i.e. Tyvek type material). Install new wire lath, stucco scratch coat, brown coat, and finish coat with texture and color to blend with existing as best as materials will allow.
