American Home & Hardscape LLC

Based on a reference from Thumbtack, I hired American Home and Hardscape LLC (Ramon Paredes) to build my dream kitchen, as well as remodel my bathroom and parts of my dining room. 12 weeks later and $32k paid, they took my money and did not come close to completing the job. In addition, the countertop was installed in correctly and the contractor used suspect materials, ie repurposed items. Sadly, litigation is ensuing. This is another cautionary tale to beware of who you hire. This is my fourth remodel and I am an attorney who thought this would not happen to me. It did. Now I am search of a contractor/handyman to repair Ramon’s mistakes and complete the projects.

Most of the work eventually got completed and turned out very nice. If you are also a contractor and are able to oversee every single item on the contract and have the time and patience to have each of those items done and then redone correctly the second or third time, then it will all work out for you. We were incredibly lucky with the timing of a visit from my father, who was home and able to point out a problem that would have been an incredibly dangerous fire hazard. Otherwise we would have missed it and it would have been caught either after their contract was over or when the smoke detectors went off. To be fair, this company does try to fix their mistakes, often at great cost to their employees. We chalked it up to the project manager being overwhelmed and mixing up what was required for his different projects and we tried to be understanding of that - for too long, in retrospect. They were not the cheapest bid we received so this was not a "you get what you pay for" lesson learned. By the tail end of it, we just didn't have the stomach or patience to continue to have those "how can we fix this" conversations and cut our losses. Best decision we made.
