I have never had a more unprofessional interaction with a company. I own my home, therefore I am the point of contact for my project. THEY called ME to schedule an estimate, so they saw that contact information. During the call, the service rep kept asking for my husband. At no point during the contractor bidding process did I mention my (nonexistent) husband. "Will Mr. LastName be at the appointment?" "No, Mr. LastName will not be attending." You know, because my dad doesn't supervise his grown daughter's business interactions. "What time works for Mr. LastName?" "Mr. LastName is unavailable." "We really would prefer to have Mr. LastName there as well." "I am the homeowner, I am the sole decision maker." No amount of telling them "This is MY house and MY project" worked. I finally said I AM NOT MARRIED and they got off my case. Why would you ever assume that the point of contact is not the decision maker? It was an incredibly CONDESCENDING and SEXIST experience, not to mention presumptuous that a single woman HAD to have a husband in this day and age. Is it so incredible that a single woman purchased a home? News flash: this isn't the 1950s. Believe it or not, women can have jobs now. Women can purchase homes without husbands. Women, in fact, can marry women. WOW. If this company is so obsessed with knowing if the customer is solely making the decision, just ask "Are you the sole decision maker of this project?" It's not that hard, and not that discriminatory. At this point, I went against my better instinct and scheduled my appointment with the rep anyway. The service rep then transferred me...to a scheduler? To ask the same questions. The scheduler, once again, asked if my husband will be joining. SERIOUSLY? Does this company not communicate internally? Why am I getting asked the same questions twice. I once against had to disclose my marital status, but at least she got it the first time and apologized. Whatever. I approved the appointment because I saw this company had 4 stars, so maybe, just maybe, they weren't that incompetent at winning thousands of dollars of business. The designer came to my house the next day. Um...designer...?! I didn't ask for a designer. I asked for someone to come out and do an estimate for labor. They then quoted me OVER FOUR TIMES the quotes other contractors had given me. The designer was nice enough about it and knew right away it wasn't going to work out, so there was no upselling. In summation, this was such a colossal waste of my time. I strongly recommend against even calling this company, particularly if you're a woman, unless you feel like getting treated like a child and quoted stupidly high prices.
