Let me start by saying that I regret that I have to write this review. The point of writing this review is to save you from the angst of a bad decision and regret for hiring the wrong person to do the job. Here are the details: I have hired 6 painters at different places that I have lived and have had positive experiences up until Sean's Painting Inc. Over the years I have painted rooms, installed and painted baseboards, crown molding and worked with staining wood. I know that in looking for a painter we all desire a professional and quality job. The experience I had with Sean's Painting was not professional and severely lacked quality and craftsmanship. There was no attention to detail and it was a rushed job that cut corners. Prior to beginning the process we discussed the methods used and the process. There was to be cleaning up (to include sanding) of the doors, trim, and kitchen cabinets. Then primer was to be applied to all surfaces and then 2 coats of paint. As you can see in my pictures, this process was not followed. The paint used was latex based over top of doors that had been previously painted in oil paint. The doors were not cleaned up nor were they sanded. Needless to say that does not work and the paint began to peel off the doors and trim within a few days of being painted. I could literally rub my thumb on the doors and the paint peeled away. As you can see from my pictures posted after we peeled back the new paint, the marks and stains on the doors were just painted over. Other pictures posted show what was remaining after the process above was said to be complete by Sean. There were areas of the walls that were not even covered with paint and the prior color was showing. There were two other areas where pencil had been written on the walls prior to any painting and we could still see the writing through the paint. If there had been primer and two coats of paint, then this would not have been a possibility. After Sean had said that he was done, we went through the condo and made a list of all the things that we saw were not done completely. The list was sent in an email to Sean and he said he would come out and fix them. Sean went to the condo and did not have the list and we had to walk though and point out the items to him. After Sean stated he had fixed the items and requested final payment, we walked through and some of the items on the list had not been fixed. We asked Sean several times if he had painted primer and two coats of paint on the walls to which he said that he did. I stated that the color was not thorough and that I could see the prior paint through the painted wall. Sean stated that he would come out and re-roll all the surfaces. On Tuesday, Sean came to the condo for about 6 hours in which time he claims to have painted a second of coat of paint on all the walls in a 950 sq. ft. condo and painted 16 baseboards that are each 16 feet long. See the photos for the pictures of the baseboards which show drips and globs of paint. We asked Sean to fix the issue with the doors and the trim and he said that he would come out and put another coat of paint over the peeling paint but would not agree to sanding and repainting. In speaking to Sean to review the process and methods to remedy the issues, he stated that he would come out and touch up but would not re-sand the necessary areas and repaint. We have no other option but to hire another painter to come out and paint the walls and replace the doors and casing that he painted because they are essentially ruined. The total amount that we paid Sean was $2700. We asked Sean to refund $500 just to help recuperate part of our financial loss because we have to hire another professional painter and replace the doors and casing. I have sent this request on July 27th and then again on July 31st and have not received a response. Also a key was given to Sean to the condo to allow for easy access to the condo to paint. It took over two weeks, numerous text and calls and ultimately an ultimatum to bill him for replacing the door lock before he finally put the key in the mail. Also I asked for a final invoice that shows the payments for the job which has been paid in full and I still have not received this documentation to this date. See photos on Yelp

Sean came out and gave us a very reasonable quote to paint the exterior of our home. He started the job within just a couple of days, showed up on time every day, and did an outstanding job on the house. He and his employees meticulously cleaned up the place every day before they left and my wife and I were very pleased with the finished job. Sean is very personable, knowledgable, and professional. We will definitely use him in the future and recommend him to anyone needing a good, honest painter.

I used Sean to pain my property in downtown San Diego on Columbia street. He did an awesome job. The best thing that I can say is that he came back to fix and finalize the job. He made sure it was completed and perfect. That is what is different about Sean's Painting.
