A Cut Above Tree and Crane

This is the second time that I have used Ben West and his crew. He was easy to work with. We worked out a scope of work and came to an agreed upon price. He did what he said he was going to do and with his new man-lift, he didn't tear up the yard and his crew cleaned up the mess.

I used their service and I am very unhappy with the service I received. First it was shady and he demanded a cash payment instead of a contract and he started the job before we agreed on a price. Just a price range. He ripped me off and called it “emergency tree removal” due to hurricane damage. Priced a tree branch removal at the newly “agreed price” of 600. Tore up my yard and also his truck killed my grass. On top of all of the disrespect, he kept trying to bypass me the homeowner and speak to “the man of the house” who isn’t even on the mortgage or anything. It was my boyfriend. He kept mom and popping us. I am appalled and would recommend literally any other tree removal service to do a job.

Workers are good but THE OWNER, Ben West, has proven himself to be unprofessional and dishonest! Paid company in full, however, they did not return as promised to complete entire job (including repairing property damages they caused & promised to fix). Now, all of a sudden the owner will not answer phone nor return phone call after being paid. Hired company May 2018 to remove 6 trees (large and medium-sized)...work took 3 days. The price, quality of tree work and post-removal tree debris cleanup was great. Yet a large stack of plywood was left in the middle of our yard for nearly a week (without permission)--our lawn guy had to cut around it. It did take longer than desired to get the removal work started (the owner was not clear nor communicated well about when work should & would be started or done)— this was very frustrating but not an ultimate “deal breaker” for us. One day the company just showed up to start work (without prior notice). Also, unfortunately, our wood fence was broken by the workers while trying to remove a section to gain yard entry. Mr. West assured us that they would return to replace/repair the messed up fence wood. This hasn’t been done as of yet but Mr. West has conveniently found time to finally retrieve the plywood his company needed back. Our neighbors did tell us after the fact that they accidently hit their house with a large branch but no damage was done. Aside from a split fence, overall, THE WORKERS did a good job and they were hard-working, friendly and very professional with us— good team they have! But even though our stumps look good, we would not refer or consider rehiring this company for future projects. Not worth the headache or the extra out-of-pocket repair costs!
