Holtz Surveying

“Holtz surveying was hired by my lawyer to complete a land survey for a cash land purchase. The survey was specifically needed to determine the land boundaries so I would know where my property began and where it stopped, for future building purposes. The surveyor completed a survey for $2500 and returned one color map, two black/white imitation copies, and he only placed partial flags around the property that is over eight acres. He was asked to fulfill his contract agreement to flag the boundaries but instead i was advised that it is required i pay him $125 per hour more, to complete the flagging and walk the property. This was not part of the agreement, the flagging was understood to be within the $2500 and ethically, the boundaries should be shown as requested. I would not recommend Holtz Surveying to others and will be taking them to court, writing Bureau of Consumer Protection, the New York state Association of Professional Land Surveyors, and the Better Business Bureau.” Zeki Guclu

My experience with Holtz Surveying can only be described as bad. I hired Charles Holtz to do a simple survey that needed DOT approval for a driveway.. DOT said Surveyors or Engineers were qualified to do the survey and the application for DOT approval. Holtz assured me he could perform these tasks. He could not and did not. I gave Charles Holtz a $500 cash deposit with a remaing $500 balance upon completion. When it came time to fill out the application he admitted he was not qualified to do it after saying that he could. I then had to pay an engineer an additional $500 to fill out the application. I had paid the $1000. Price that he said the job would cost. I later received a bill from Holtz for well over a thousand dollars which I refused to pay.Holtz then took me to claims court and because I was trusting and did not have the conditions of our agreement in writing the court awarded him a fraction of what he was asking. I would never use this guy again and would advise anyone to get everything in writing. There are competent professionals who are capable of filling out an application form. He ain't one of them
