Smelly Crawl Space Mess

Mar 2015

The homeowner contacted 911 Restoration Miami Valley by Dragon after she began to notice a sewage odor in her house. She had called a plumber who took one look at the mess and told the homeowner that he wasn't going to attempt to fix the broken pipe until the mess was cleaned up. On an icy day with 8" of snow and more on the way, 911 Restoration's sewage cleanup crew swung into action. Using our truck-mounted vacuum, our team extracted water and then shoveled the solid waste. They then had to remove the contaminated vapor barrier. Everything was placed into biohazard containers for disposal. Within a few hours of the completion of our work, the homeowner reported that the terrible odor was gone. The next day the plumber returned to complete his repairs. A couple of days after that, family life has returned to normal. The family once again has a functioning plumbing system and they do not have to wear clothes pins on their noses to avoid the smell of raw sewage that was pooling under their house.

A No-No At Mojo's

Mar 2015

Sewage In The Cellar When your favorite evening hangout tells you about their cellar selections, sewage is usually not on their list. In Mojos case, a drain line problem in the basement of the building next door turned their cellar into a dirty, smelly mess. Heeding their plumbers advice, they called Dragon Restoration, and we responded within the hour. One of our sewage cleanup expert crews had the mess cleaned up, deodorized, and drying out before Mojos closed for the night. Customers were able to enjoy their food and beverages without interruption. The staff could reach the cellar coolers without wading through raw sewage. An evening that started as a disaster for Mojos, was averted by the timely and knowledgeable response to their call for help, by Dragon Restorations sewage remediation experts.

Sprinkler System Freezes and Bursts

Feb 2015

After suffering through a number of sub-zero nights in a row, the manager of an adult-living apartment complex heard a strange sound in the ceiling above her desk. She got up to investigate and two seconds later the ceiling above where she had been sitting collapsed. Drywall, insulation, and water crashed down onto her desk and office chair. Luckily, because she had just gotten up, she wasnt injured. But the office and a lot of the first floor hallways and apartments were not so lucky. The sprinkler system in the attic above the office had frozen and cracked overnight. As the temperature rose throughout the morning and afternoon the ice in the pipe melted, allowing the water to begin flowing. Our emergency crews were on the scene within an hour of the managers call and the cleanup process was started. Hallways and several apartments were flooded, some having just received new carpet and paint that very day. Because of managements quick response in contacting us, we were able to extract water and dry carpeting and walls quickly to prevent any further damage or mold issues. A few days later, life was back to normal for all of the senior residents.

Squatters Cause A Water Damage In Kettering

Aug 2015

When the tenant moved out at the beginning of last winter, the owners decided not to rent it again but to list the home in the spring with a realtor. They had the home professionally winterized to prevent pipes from freezing. Unknown to them, squatters broke into the home, turned the water back on and were living there until neighbors discovered and reported them. As a result of the water being turned on by the squatters, the winterization failed and a water line in the attic burst. The broken pipe wasn't discovered until water service was restored this summer. 911 Restoration Miami Valley had to completely gut the adjacent bathroom, remove what remained of the ceiling in the dining room, and remove a laminate floor in the dining room and kitchen. The owners sought advice from 911 Restoration Miami Valley BEFORE they reported their claim to their insurance company. We were able to advise them to stress that they had professionally winterized the house. Because of this fact their insurance company covered their loss completely. If you need assistance with a water damage cleanup and filing an insurance claim, call 911 Restoration Miami Valley FIRST at (937) 428-2626 night or day.
