I studied design at NYIT School of Architecture and then went into the building business for 30 years. During that time I have built and remodeled many upscale homes in he Charlotte area. Today, I am focused on providing quality designs for new construction as we'll as remodeling projects. While I am not involved as a genera contractor any longer, that experience helps me provide a full 360° perspective for creating new designs to meet the needs of my clients.

My recommendation is not to do business with George Hobel unless you like to wait and have unpleasant surprises. We started our project with George in mid March and still do not have a set of useable plans. It would take him a week or two to respond to us when we tried to communicate with him via email. I just had a terrible experience with the owner, George Hobel. My wife and I agreed to have him draw up plans for our bathroom remodel for $800. Any changes after the plans were drawn would be at $125 per hour. We had a Zoom meeting to finalize the plans after he visited our home. Before this was over, he asked us for another $750 for unsatisfactory work. We ask for second Zoom meeting and sent a list of things that weren't right with the plans. George made some of the changes but not all. He made the changes, but he did so without talking to us. Here's his email "Total due for all changes.... $150" We asked George for a final Zoom meeting to make a few changes we wanted and correct some things he still got wrong. Again, he made some of the changes, but the plans still had errors on his part. George never answered our email. Just never responded until I sent him an email and asked what was going on. Then I got this ". That puts your current balance at $500. In order to continue, I would like a confirmation that you are interested in completing all of the recent changes, along with the additional cost per hour. A good estimate for the remainder of time might be another 2 hours. That would put your total at $750. A simple submission of the current balance due of $500 will be sufficient to let me know that you are ready to proceed. " After holding us up for weeks going back and forth we never got a set of final plans from him.
