Brown Residence | Feb 2014 | The Brown family has a gorgeous home with a fabulous view of the lake, but despite the lovely view, there wasn't an easily accessible way to connect the outside beauty to the inside of the house. We put our heads together and created a plan that would not only create easy to access to the lake from within the house, but also increase its useable square footage by utilizing the unfinished basement. Without touching the original foundation, we added 1200 square feet of guest suite and kitchen, office, media room, wine vault and fitness center (Hey, you gotta work off those calories somehow.) Essentially, we created an entire house within a house, and we didn't have to bring a back hoe to do it. | Mount Holly, NC

Charlotte Residence | Nov 2013 | When this family purchased their first home in south Charlotte, they called on the craftsmen at Hopedale Builders to renovate the charming, but dated kitchen. A few years later, this family moved all the way across the street and decided their new home needed the Hopedale treatment as well. The new home began the renovation process with a complete overhaul of the kitchen that included; custom cabinets, a large apron sink, bar area, a marble island large enough to land a plane on and the remodeling wouldn't have been complete without a few Michelin Star-worthy appliances. A chef's dream come true. Once the kitchen area was up to snuff, the bathroom areas needed some loving and the master bath received the equivalent of a facelift, mud wrap and hair extensions. The bathroom received an installation of Italian marble tile while a soaking tub was installed facing a hanging flat screen for those evenings when a bottle of wine and a marathon of 'Law and Order' is calling your name. Oh and did we mention the radiant flooring, and heated towel bars? Yeah, it's pretty much a little slice of Nirvana in south Charlotte. | Charlotte, NC
Campbell Residence | Nov 2013 | The Campbell house is filled with the sound of laughter and the energy of their growing two boys. Or should I say, young men. The small bathroom and powder room that once easily accommodated the daily routines of Bill and Paul seemed to grow smaller by the day, which may have been the case given the rapid growth of these pre-college bundles of teen spirit. Hopedale Builders was able to increase the functional space of these aging bathrooms and not only add square footage, but maturity and a certain 'je ne sais quoi' with the addition of the in-wall faucets, custom vanity, and farm plank flooring, not to mention the glass shower enclosure as a finishing touch. Kids seem to grow up too fast these days, at least these bathrooms should be able to keep pace. | Charlotte, NC
Hobson Residence | Nov 2013 | When the Hobson family first purchased their custom-built Hopedale home, the attention to detail and craftsmanship was everything they were looking for. As their family grew and entertaining became a larger part of their life, they once again turned to the experts at Hopedale to create a solution that would turn their backyard into an outdoor playground. We created an oasis that's one part man cave, one part culinary hot spot and all parts gorgeous. With a vaulted ceiling and standing seam metal roof, this beautiful addition not only blends in perfectly with the house's original design by Hopedale, but it stands out as a great way to add functional space to the home without changing the perfect interior. About the only thing missing from this addition are the steaks on the grill, but cut us little slack, we're builders not butchers. | Charlotte, NC
Rizer Residence | Oct 2013 | If SUVs existed in 1935, this lovely historic home might have been built with a functional garage. As it was, the home's garage was tacked on circa pre-SUV era, and added no functional or aesthetic value to the residence. In fact, quite the opposite was true. The Hopedale team jumped in to offer something in keeping with the family's needs: a garage that complimented the style of the house while satisfying the homeowners desire for storage space and plenty of room for vehicles. Part of the challenge was a shared driveway, the close proximity of the neighbor's garage, and a diagonal rear property line. The solution was to construct the new garage with a clipped corner so it could be nestled in the back angle of the yard, then we used brick, slate, and hard-coat stucco that are sensitive to the historic design era of the home. We even added a second story above the lower-level parking area, to take care of their need for ample storage space. The end result was a new garage that appears to original to the home design, and complements the beauty of its historic surroundings.
