Prestigious Construction

In 2003, I purchased a home from Mike Cummings with Prestigious. We ended up in a lawsuit because he was an unlicensed contractor who demolished a ranch home to the subflooring and constructed a two story home on top of the existing foundation without proper permitting and without a plan. He falsified multiple permits, misrepresented to the building standards dept the scope of the project, constructed the master bath with extensive leaks that resulted in damage to the wood and growth of mold (which caused health problems), failed to address existing mold conditions under the original subfloor, refused to complete punch list and warranty work, failed to install multiple items in a workmanlike fashion, etc. The list goes on in our lawsuit. He misrepresented himself. And then since he had no money we couldn't get any compensation after having spent over $30K on mold remediation and structural engineering and fixes along with dozens of smaller warranty and punch list items he refused to do. He was not easy to work with either during the time before the house was finished. During the last few months of construction after the contract, Mike had trouble working with me as a female who had experience and knowledge about home construction. In addition, he couldn't work within the boundaries of my availability and didn't communicate deliverables with adequate time. I was able to come on site once a day for an hour but he would call me with emergencies while I was working. I wanted advance notice of when I needed to chose tile, plumbing, etc. but he was always last minute turning it into an emergency. I showed up to the plumbing selection appointment and discovered there were no plans. No plans. He built the house without plans. This would not happen today as permitting and inspections have become stricter but given that he has never offered to make our situation right, I do not think he has changed. Fortunately his realtor's office had insurance and we got some compensation in the lawsuit for the fact that the actual square footage was 500 square feet less than the listing which was "per plan". There were no plans. Choose someone else.

Mike was awesome! He even suggested ways to make things look better! He came promptly , was an extremely nice Gentleman and we look forward to more projects!
