ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN PHILOSOPHY is for practical, efficient, client-driven design; empathetic to client needs and desires, and with long-term "universal design" flexibility and adaptability. Supportive of the "team approach" to construction - preferring, when possible, to include the general contractor, subcontractors and suppliers in the design process and throughout construction to insure the most up-to-date materials and systems are used in a well-coordinated construction process - thus getting the client the best value possible. COMMERCIAL EXPERIENCE includes design for new buildings and re-modeling of existing shopping centers & individual stores, office buildings and complexes, medical offices, banks, amusement centers, restaurants, warehouses, and extensive auto service facilities design. MEDICAL & INSTITUTIONAL EXPERIENCE includes design of wide variety of new and remodeled specialized medical facilities, including Kidney Dialysis Centers for UVA Health System (5), their Materials Handling Warehouse, and outpatient facilities of doctors' offices with exam rooms, nurses stations, labs, and x-ray rooms. Work includes alterations to original MJ Hospital bldg., including Physical Therapy, Breast Care, X-Ray, MRI and CT Imaging: G.I., and Surgery suites; various planning studies, and off-site outpatient offices. Institutional work includes day-care centers and churches. INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE includes design of both new and renovated large warehouses, concrete block manufacturing and batch mixing plants. HOUSING EXPERIENCE ranges from elaborate custom residences to remodelings and additions over a broad economic range. Work includes apartment buildings and complexes and townhouses. It also includes extensive HUD, VHDA community-funded low-income housing for physically or mentally handicapped people.. Our clientele proudly includes ten former presidents of the Blue Ridge Home Builders Association.
