Whittier Historic District Home

Apr 2019

Home built in 1924 with foundation settlement issues. Doors and windows wouldn't open/close, house leaned to one side, exterior brickwork coming away from the house. Historic districts strict rules about everything exterior on the home. We underpinned the existing foundation with Ram Jack Helical Piles to prevent further settlement. A couple of areas had brick foundation sitting directly on soil so we added concrete footings and underpinned those with helical piles. We gave it enough lift/recovery so doors and windows worked again. Had to be very careful not to affect exterior materials. Also repaired a basement wall that was bowing with carbon fiber straps. The entire project was engineered and permitted and the city of Whittier was happy to hear these old homes could be repaired in a minimally invasive and non-destructive manner.
