He balances his technical knowledge, his artistic sensibilities, and his exquisite sensitivity to design philosophy, creating a functional, yet aesthetically pleasing, space for his clients. Mt. Airy House | Oct 2011 | This is a new residence in the Cincinnati area following the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) principles. This project takes traditional cost effective building methods and couples them with newer materials and energy efficient systems to create a comfortable and durable modern house filled with light. The main floor has two bedrooms and two full bathrooms, a large social space with a separate laundry and pantry. It is also designed so the owner can age-in-place, so accessibility and adaptability was planned into the project. It has ADA compliant thresholds for easy entry from the front door and garage. The two main floor bathrooms allow for wheel chair access have blocking installed, should the need for adding grab bars arise. All doors are 36" wide to allow for easy access, whether moving furniture or going in to watch TV and relax. All door and faucets have lever handles. The lower level has two bedrooms with a full bath room, home office, storage, mechanical space and wood shop. The home is heated with a geothermal heat-pump. Hot water is also provided by a heat-pump water heater and when the geothermal system is in heating mode, it supplements the hot water production by transferring heat energy to the water. 1904 House Renovation | Oct 2010 | This home built in 1904 by William Erhart and was lived in by his family for over 80 years. In celebration of the homes second century, and their love of cooking the owners added a large modern kitchen by combining two first floor rooms.
