Gaslight Distric Master Bath

Sep 2017

It's a challenge to add modern amenities to a 100+ year old house but still maintain the character. This bathroom started as a small and dated bathroom that was retro-fitted into a closet. Now a large shower and generous countertop and floor space are complimented with modern finishes but still give a respectful nod to a simpler time.

Composite Deck

Oct 2014

This deck started as a small rectangle with a long set of stairs going down to the back yard. It was weatherbeaten and had poorly built railings. The homeowners wanted to keep maintenance to a minimum and to expand the footprint. Due to the layout of the yard and budget restraints it was decided to eliminate the stairs to allow for a larger deck. Since they had a walkout basement they decided the steps were not necessary. We removed the stairs, old decking, and railings and expanded the framing. We then installed a Fiberon vinyl capped composite along with vinyl posts and fascia and powdered coated steel railings.

Budget Kitchen Cabinet Reface

Mar 2014

This was a nice little condo but the kitchen was in desperate need of an update. The cabinets received new doors and drawer fronts. The tiny pass-through was expanded into an L-shape. The countertops are are a high-def laminate with a special edge molding that can be wrapped around corners. The countertop also has an undercount sink to help give it the look of real stone at a lower price point. Combine these with new appliances and the kitchen has a fresh, modern look at a fraction of the cost of a complete remodel.

Kitchen Renovation

Feb 2014

This project was part of a whole home remodel. The space that is now a kitchen was originally a kitchen, bathroom, hallway, and coat closet. We opened up the entire area to make one large kitchen. To keep a full bath on the first floor we relocated the back door and converted the mud room to a bathroom. We also widened the entry to the kitchen and created a pass-through as well. Both of these were through a load-bearing wall. We gave the openings and arch shape to match the passageway from the front foyer to the great room. Simple Shaker style cabinets are adorned with an eye-catching granite slab. The travertine subway tile backsplash was given some pop with the addition of randomly placed glass tiles. Behind the scenes, plumbing and electrical were upgraded, insulation was added to exterior walls, and fire/draft blocking were added to the framing to bring the 110 year old space up to modern building code.
