While replacing some rotted trim on our house, ATC Builders discovered that when our home was built, the upstairs bathroom drain was plumbed in the exterior wall of the house which caused rot in the wall (hidden by cedar siding). They removed the rot, resided the exterior wall, and fixed the plumbing from the inside. We were on vacation when they were working on the inside, but friends stopped by and told us what a "disaster" the house was.... But by the time we returned (2 weeks) you couldn't even tell that they'd been here. Everything was back where it belonged, ceiling and walls were patched and painted, cabinets were hung back on the walls, and new interior & exterior trim was stained! Very professional. No one likes to pay for home repairs, including me, but I feel much much better about the shape of our house after ATC Builders’ work.

Screened in porch | Jun 2014 | Nothing beats a mosquito free summer night in Vermont on a beautiful screened in porch! This porch had seen one too many winters and rot was beginning to wear it away. The addition of a gutter and proper sloping and sealing will keep the water outside where is belongs so this homeowner can enjoy the beauty of her new 3 season room. Finished with locally harvested Vermont brown maple this space is truly one of a kind! Its not often you see the precision and detail of a fine furniture piece applied to a porch but on this project we got to let our passion for fine carpentry run wild. Because we often mill our finish boards and trim by hand from rough sawn lumber we are able to offer superior local products at a higher level of precision and customization for a very competitive price | $6k | Middlebury, VT
Middlebury home renovation | Jun 2014 | This historic home had seen better days after decades as a Middlebury college student rental. When the owner decided to relocate from NJ to beautiful Middlebury VT this summer, we took on the job of transforming her 220 year old income property from an off campus party spot to an exquisite, livable family home. Step 1: The floors had to GO! An aroma hung heavy in the air; the unmistakable odor off the day after the party where the carpet drank more beer than all the freshman combined. 3 days or demolition and we had the funk lifted and were ready to start leveling the old, rolling subfloor to receive beautiful new Brazilian cherry floors. The homes two staircases ( one original) were refinished to match and helped to tie the new floor in with the old home. Years of settling and countless remodels left some pretty interesting transitions between the rooms of this house. Prefabricated transitions were not available for these unique cases so brought out the shop tools and created them ourselves. Finally the floor was finished with a white shoe molding which, we are proud to say, we milled up on site using 100% reclaimed wood from the demolition. | $19k | Middlebury, VT
Mahagony porch | Jun 2014 | This breathtaking and naturally weather resistant red balau mahogany adds a pop of color to the outside of this cedar home that will last many years | $2k | Weybridge, VT
Fence Facelift | May 2014 | A white picket fence with only one job to do; Keep in the Corgi's! With a new picket falling victim to rot every few days it was time to replace all 310 ft. To keep cost down we milled our own pickets on site and salvaged what we could from the old fence. All in all we were able to produce pre-primed pickets at under 60% of the retail cost making a functional fence project meet a practical budget. | $4k | Weybridge, VT
Monkton modern Kitchen Remodel | Apr 2014 | This quaint log home sits on a beautiful 43 acre lot in Monkton VT. The owners were in love with the property but the low ceilings and dark wall-to-wall wood made this space much too dark and uninviting for their modern taste. Working closely with the homeowners, we were able to transform the space and achieve that perfect rustic modern dichotomy. Old cabinets removed, the kitchen floor was replaced by lacing in wide plank pine to match the rest of house, which would then all be sanded down and finished with a solid gray stain. The log walls were carefully shimmed, shaved and strapped in preparation for drywall and the new white cabinets. The dividing wall to the living room was removed to open up the room and a small pantry was built. Finally (my favorite part) a handmade built-in china hutch from the old kitchen was cut in two and reconfigured into part of what became a beautiful eat-in banquette, built almost entirely using repurposed wood from the previous kitchen! | $11k | Monkton, VT
Farmhouse roof / siding replacment | Mar 2014 | This old farmhouse, owned by one of Vermont's premier dairies, needed a new roof over the garage and some weatherization where the garage connected to the main home. We were in and out in just a day and barely disturbed the curious new tenants below. | $4k | Weybridge, VT
Custom Display case | Jan 2014 | When you have a collection of models like this, you cant just put them on any old shelf. They need their own custom built wood and glass cabinets so the exquisite detail can been artfully admired and carefully preserved. Pictures of the amazing arrangement still to come | $3k | Weybridge, VT
Interior remodeling | Jul 2014 | Replacing rotting exterior trim, which led to interior plumbing retro-fit. | $7k | Weybridge, VT |
