J. Lawrence designed, built and installed a stairway gate customized to match the existing railing and bannister. They also designed, built and installed a built-in mud/drop station for the front entry of our new home, in a way that matched the existing architecture of the entry door and baseboard moldings. All work was reasonably priced and flawlessly executed on-time. Outstanding craftsmanship and service is the hallmark of J. Lawrence Creations.

we have a late 50's house that has the original onsite built birch kitchen cabinets. We wanted to update the kitchen but not change these period correct cabinets that had taken on a beautiful patina over the years. We talked to a lot of contractors and remodelers and their approach is to gut and put in new cabinets. Which is understandable because it's easier, though may not be less expensive. But that would have gutted the appearance and soul of the kitchen. At a point we had no idea if we could find someone to do this job as we envisioned. By chance we heard a sponsors ad on KRCC radio for J. Lawrence. Of course went to their website and saw beautiful wood creations, but thought "this is high end custom, we probably can't afford it". Decided to send them some pics of the kitchen and ask them if they were interested. FIgured we wouldn't hear from them (like many, many other companies we emailed and called) or they would say no, not interested. Joanna of JL responded and said they can do it and wanted to meet with us to evaluate it the project and get our ideas. The most rewarding part of this meeting was that they understood and appreciated what we wanted to do: we wanted the cabinets to retain the period correct look, but have all of the modern features like pull out trays, adjustable shelves, and soft close doors and drawers. Amazingly they pulled this off. This type of resto job isn't easy: it isn't easy to make existing cabinets have adjustable shelves; hardware mounting varies from cabinet to cabinet since they were built on site originally; and new facing, doors and drawers have to be stained to match wood that has patina'd for 50 + years. But they did it. Our kitchen came out exactly like we wanted. We were very lucky to find someone who understood the importance of preserving a look and working within that, even though it's way more difficult to do. We also need to mention that jobsite management and performance are top notch. They were on time and on schedule. No mess, things cleaned up at the end of the day and the house treated as if it were there own. We personally believe that the criteria of any service or product you get is this: would you recommend the product/service, would you use it again and were you happy to write the check. We can honestly say yes to all three. Michael and Maralee Fortarel
