Handymen Xpress LLC

We hired Handyman Xpress LLC from a request my husband posted on porch.com for popcorn ceiling removal and painting. They were extremely sloppy and unprofessional, and have caused so much extra mess and time that we had to fire them and are now in search of a new contractor to fix the damage they created as well as finish our original needs. The owner of the company came to give us an estimate and claimed that they could scrape our popcorn ceilings, spray new orange peel texture and paint the ceilings white. He also said that he would paint all of our walls in the main area of our home which consists of the dining and living room, the stairs leading up and hallway upstairs. The texture that he sprayed the FIRST time was completely wrong, it was just thick globs of spackle everywhere which also ended up covering all of our walls and floors and ground into our carpets. They made no attempt to clean any of their mess, we had to do all of that just to make our space liveable. He acknowledged that the texturing was completely wrong, and said that he would fix it, which brought us to the SECOND attempt, where he tried to skim coat the ceiling and then retexture with orange peel. He did this incorrectly, and now we have lumpy ceilings with odd gauges and holes throughout. They acknowledged that was incorrect also, and so had to waste another day sanding everything down (without properly protecting any of our spaces) and then applied texture incorrectly for the THIRD time. It was coming home to this that led us to finally firing him. Every room in our home was covered in 2 inches of drywall mud dust/spackle from the sanding without any sort of dust mitigation. They also began rolling our new paint color on the walls WITHOUT cleaning all of the spackle spray all over the walls, so now there are lumps and globs of spackle painted onto our walls. They also covered all of our brand new trim and doors and floorboards in spackle spray, these are all things that we did ourselves and were very proud of, now are all ruined and must be sanded and repainted throughout the main areas of our home. All of our windows are also sprayed with spackle. When asked why these things were all incorrect, we were told that the workers that were in our house with the owner of the company were new and he was training them on how to do the job. Even if that is the case, there was obviously no direction or quality control happening. The sloppy performance and complete disregard for our property speak volumes. It seems that this person has NO idea what they are doing, and took $1250 up front to ruin our home. No refund was offered, and now we will have to spend triple what we have already paid to fix all of their mistakes. I will not recommend this company to anyone, they represented themselves as having a ton of experience, but as far as we could see, could not texture, mitigate mess, or paint walls properly. They had absolutely no respect for our home and belongings. Rooms that they were not even working on were absolutely covered in dust up to 2 inches thick. There seemed to be no effort to plastic off their work areas to protect anything, and areas that did have plastic were not properly secured, so all of the dust and mess ended up all over the house except for rooms that had doors closed. We were also informed by our neighbors that they used extremely loud and foul language in our front yard areas. We confirmed this with surveillance footage (with audio) from our front porch camera.
