Hired this guy, Juan Moreno, off Thumbtack. Came out and bid and I liked him so i hired him. Came and did some work removing the screens to prep for adding windows. Wanted some money so I gave him $2000. His bid was $6300. Said he needed it for materials. Came back with a few pieces of pipe and some electrical wire to run power from my shop to my new back porch. Dug the line for electric and also a separate water line and this is when the trouble started. He would not call me I had to contact him. He always had an excuse for why he didn't show up. Then he told me he was picking up the windows and would be here later. Never showed or called. Contacted him and he said the windows did not come in. So I said come on back and do the other parts while we wait on windows. He said oK he would be here early the next morning. Never called and did not call. This went on longer than I care to relate, I don't know where my patience came from. This dragged on for over 2 months because I did not want to hire another company and they want to start over and do it their way. But I finally sent him a text that he was fired. Never heard from him. I did not get $2000 of work or material from him. I have since hired another company, Steelhorse Construction, which I also got from Thumbtack. He was one of the original contractors who bid on my job. They have been here everyday and will probably be finished this week or early next week. But like I feared they had to do things to correct Juans work and it is costing more that if i would have hired this company to start with. I have reviewed Juans company on Thumbtack and they have removed his company from their list. I am hoping Porch will do the same. I strongly recommend you not hire this man.
